Somewhat amateurish acting but the plot was interesting and curiously inviting. Then again? Very often family dramas always are... And I am partial to "country" settings. David' character simply lacked "punch" while Julia was the persistent "punch" always digging to the "heart" of each and every matter. The father was well played in seeking reconciliation to close out his life. David's adopted brother was unfortunately, the weakest character. All this said? The family dynamic was unusual yet interesting and I felt David came full circle with his family "truthS" so to speak. Good effort; worthy story.

It's been some time since I've seen such a well acted, beautiful story of aging as this. -Often what happens when "kids" don't see aging parents as the HUMAN BEINGS that they are or the fact that they were ever young like them - holding the same feelings, thoughts and fears. The daughter, in my opinion was seriously troubled and she can blame it on her father all she chooses but bottomline? She was troubled; her life was troubled and she projected that hostility on her father's remaining years. You don't want to know what I THINK of that scenario (shades of Angelina Jolie!) EXCELLENT plot, storyline, acting & setting. Could not have BEEN BETTER. Kudos to all who contributed to this accurate display of the aging parent and distraught (if not screwed up) offspring!

Just bored on a Saturday night; looking for a mystery and this I found from 2004 apparently. While not real riveting? It held my attention, mainly due to the acting of Ms. Eastwood, who I didn't realize was a pretty good actress. The story line is absolutely contemporary and scary! Bo Sevenson appears as a more menacing figure than I've seen before. Setting of ranchland was peaceful and there were a few twists but invariably, the plot is easy to figure out halfway through. Is that good? Is that bad? I don't think EITHER. It's always a case of well you know it but you still want to see it played out. I think the directing was good but I don't think Margot Kidder (RIP) held a very convincing role.
