These shows that are getting turned out endlessly by Apple, Netflix, Amazon etc... often have some great gems and are worth watching.
Defending Jacob is definitely worth watching. It's a good courtroom, legal drama with a few twists and turns.
The big issue I have with this show and all the others is they are just too long. They want to get the most eyeballs on the screens for the longest time so they pack out these mini-series to be 8, 9 or 10 episodes.
Just knock it off already and make these 4 episodes and would have a much better result.
Just look at the show The Residence, starts out good and then you are just grinding along to get the last episode which should have been episode 5 or so.
Worth a watch but you wont be missing much if you pop out to do the dishes, mow the lawn, feed the dog, etc...

The Residence is a fresh funny quirky murder mystery. The first episode is great, you get quickly hooked by the premise and the fresh fast script. The pace keeps up for the first 4 episodes, but then... things slow down.
After you have committed to 4 episodes you are wanting to see who did it. But there's no sign of the ending coming. There's not a lot of new content just long drawn out bird stories by Cordelia. So given the sunk cost fallacy you struggle on watching more and more episodes, griding slowly towards a conclusion.
It's a great show with great writing and characters, it's just too long.
Why Netflix makes these "great" shows but then pads them out to meet some quota or something is crazy. The Residence would have been a great show if it was trimmed down to 4 or 5 episodes.
And why does Netflix have to stick in some LGBQT characters into all their shows these days. It's constant and it's tiring.
