This is not a new premise; somebody putting people through torture to make them admit their secrets. The issue is, there is no torture, there is no terror, and there is no character development. They throw this group of high school kids into this situation almost immediately, so there is no back story for almost everyone. Part of the fun of this type of movie is guessing what they are guilty of, and that's impossible when you know nothing about the character. For most of the movie, i thought two different male characters were the same person.
That being said, it gets a decent low budget rating for not looking or sounding awful. The cinematography and sound were pretty good, and the haunted house setting worked.
This movie is a family affair. The two leads are real life brother and sister, and the director has same last name (father/uncle?). Neither of them deserved lead roles; some of the other actors were actually better. Of note was the girl's inability to pretend to be handicapped. When she has no cane, she walks with her foot twisted. When she has the cane, she walks perfectly fine.
The villain is also revealed WAAAAY too early. The screenplay really needed to be run by an experienced editor, and it probably would have greatly improved the film.
