The second review from the festival is for Hyakuemu, and wow-I was lucky to be one of the first in the world to see it. Walking out of the theater felt like I'd just run a 100-meter sprint myself. The film is pure adrenaline, powered by jaw-dropping rotoscope animation and an intense, perfectly timed score. It captures both the physical strain and emotional drive of sprinting with stunning precision. Every scene bursts with energy, but it also finds quiet moments of reflection. The character work is subtle but impactful, showing the mental battles behind every race. It's not just about speed-it's about purpose, pain, and pushing limits. Hyakuemu is a bold, unforgettable ride from start to finish.
5th Borough opens with an emotional punch-Nikos' daughter is diagnosed with a brain tumor, and the clock starts ticking. The film sets up high stakes, but at times, the storytelling feels uneven. Some plot turns happen a bit too quickly, and a few supporting characters fall into familiar mob movie tropes. While the tension builds steadily, a deeper dive into Nikos' inner world could have made the emotional beats land harder.
That said, the film finds its stride in the second half. Steve Stanulis captures Staten Island's grit with honesty, and the father-daughter bond anchors everything with genuine heart. As the story builds toward its conclusion, it becomes clear that 5th Borough is more than a crime flick-it's about sacrifice, loyalty, and the lengths a parent will go for love. By the end, you're rooting for Nikos, flaws and all.

I really enjoyed Chronicle of a Serial Killer! It's definitely an indie film, and while there are a few flaws-like some uneven pacing and a couple of scenes that feel a bit rushed-it still delivers a gripping and entertaining experience. The story keeps you on edge, with enough tension and mystery to hold your attention from start to finish.
The performances are surprisingly strong, especially given the film's scale. The lead actor does a great job bringing both menace and intrigue to the role. The atmosphere is eerie, the twists are solid, and the film isn't afraid to go dark. If you're into crime thrillers or psychological horror, this is absolutely worth checking out. It's raw, creepy, and a great watch for indie fans.
