Oh my god this show could have been 6 episodes at most.

This final episode really drives home how much they spell out every single thing - multiple times over. It's not just spoon feeding - it's force feeding.

Between that and the monoatomic character tropes that would be fine as one offs - but instead they're repeatedly leaned on and into.

I'll never get that hour of my life back.

And this is the part of the review where I write extra words to meet the quota, ironic isn't it? What's the lesson? Don't have idiotically long character counts on your tv series / movie review sites as it doesn't improve quality.

Honestly - just skip seasons 1 and 2 and go straight to 3 which is what I would call "real" trek - in fact probably the first real Trek we've seen since Enterprise.

I have no clue how they possibly screwed up, season 1 and 2 so badly but came back so strong with season 3.

Season 3 has everything you want - genuine characters, strong actors, a few genuinely funny moments thrown in here and there, decent morals but with none of the totally over the top, surface deep corny Disney style politically correct waffle that Discovery has.

The pacing seems a lot better than all other modern Star Trek as well.

TLDR - watch season 3!
