I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed this British horror gem. The main draws for me were the title and casting of Rula Lenska and that's all the info I went in with.

I'm kinda shocked at the amount of 1 star reviews because the film is nowhere close to 1 star material in my humble opinion. Admittedly I'm a fan of a slow burn so long as the plot/concept grabs my attention and for the most part this film had my attention. It was also beautifully shot with some impressive cinematography on display and the music also added to the film.

The weakest part of this film for me was the lead actress with her storybook accent and overall flat performance. Rula was an utter delight in every scene she was in. I could tell the actress was relishing in playing such a "character".

Overall this film was pretty good, nothing stellar don't get me wrong but I'd definitely watch it again.

The Suicide Squad is the definitive of pure genius and insanity working perfectly hand in hand to create one of the most bizarre and unique comic book films of all time.

Gunn has always had a knack for writing well fleshed out characters and tends to lean towards the more bizarre comic book characters (a racoon, a tree, a mantis etc) and with this film he really goes for it. We are treated to a Shark, a Weasel, a dude who throws pocadots and a giant freekin starfish!!!! What's not to love???? Shark was my MVP for sure.

The film is filled with wonderfully absurd characters getting up to wonderfully absurd things and it all works perfectly. I genuinely have zero negatives to say about this film and it's one I rewatch a lot and have very fond memories of seeing it on the big screen upon its initial release. This film really is what instilled confidence in me in regards to Gunn leading the new DCU universe.
