It began with noticing Michael Shannon in "Nocturnal Animals" a couple years ago. Completely wowed, I started on IMDB and most recently caught "Take Shelter". There I discovered both Nichols and Jessica Chastain. Double-Wow!

Since then I've burned through his "Shotgun Stories", and"Loving" and read up on him a bit. I'm here to tell ya the guy both writes and directs and very successfully mind you. I suppose he's trying to be an auteur in that very difficult industry and if I have my way he'll one day become a Producer and these unfair criticisms will dry up.

All three deserve your own review and critique, My own seven ratings for these may very well change into solid eights but I loathe going back later and changing because a film is felt under/over rated or strikes some personal chord.

Surely most people will find this miniseries interesting but all through the piece this reviewer couldn't ignore large sections throughout that could/should have been edited/reshaped and still yet heighten the expectation of the whole. Rather it would seem that Netflix gathered every single piece of documentation on this subject and determined to use it all. Also the end of an episode would sometimes close with a member of law enforcement making a misleading statement so as to create some excitement for the next which, to some minds, is a bit shabby. After all the facts stood up very well on their own.

I enjoy docs and couldn't help to but imagine what for example someone like Errol Morris or Werner Herzog could have done in less than half the time. And this is not to disparage Netflix in general. With the advent of digital cameras they continue to produce very excellent feature films to rival anyone's. Who knows, later they may do justice to the subject in that genre.

...and she was unrecognizable until the pre-war flashbacks began. In fact I would venture so far as to say this may be her best acting to date Strong production and acting all around, I would give this one a 7.6 and never look back. The beginning set the hook and two hours just flew by (and isn't that always the measure of a good film?).

And there may very well be something wrong with me because I kind'a chuckled when the German officer defiantly reported with a "Heil Hitler". Terrible I know!

Gotta love the Data Base, they'll never tell ya to always write a thoughtful, thorough well thought out review. Yes, why not just impose a six-hundred character minimum "(8^)
