The first half of it wasn't too bad, in fact it was sort of watchable. Then they hit the seance scene, and from there it became absolutely hilarious. I seriously laughed and laughed and laughed. The psychic guy doing all the hocus-pocus rubbish looked like he just walked out of the pimp episode of Chappelle Show. He even looks like Dave Chappelle. He was dressed up like the hokiest looking stereotypical 1970's pimp. It was impossible to concentrate after that. Looks like it was made on a budget of $35. It was definitely a lost opportunity because the actors playing the mother and father were actually quite good.
This might have been a good episode if I could've actually seen what was going on. I know this series is set underground but seriously just because something is in a tunnel doesn't mean you have to make it pitch black. Half the time I didn't know what's going on because I had to rely on audio only. If all you hear is grunting and exertion, it doesn't actually lead to plot advancement. This is supposed to be a thriller and a mystery but keeping everything in the dark doesn't make it cool and . This latest Hollywood penchant for filming everything in the dark is ridiculous and just lazy. Maybe it's a cost cutting measure. The cost of electricity must be hitting everyone.
I'd been enjoying season 2 so much more than season 1, for one simple reason. Patricia Arquette has hardly been in it. She's been acting since the 80's so you think she would've learnt something by now, but dear god, she is the most hideous, ham-fisted actor. Have the producers and the directors not noticed how dreadful she is? I can seriously think of at least 30 actors off the top of my head who could've done a fast superior job than her and possibly even unknown actors. To dedicate an entire episode to her character was just so tedious. The character could've been good with a better actress cast in the role.
