I had considerably muted my expectations when I went out to see this movie last night. I mean, no bad ass Spartans and Leonidas right? So this bloke who plays Themistokles (Sullivan) has about as much charisma as a 90 year old geriatric butler on the outback. That sort of spoiled the movie for me.

The continuity aspect was well taken care off. Again, I would not dwell on inconsistencies in historical narrative since this is based off a graphic novel.

Eva Green was good in her role. There was very little of Xerxes, which was another sore point. The good bit was amazing 3D effects. Went very well. I liked the whole setting.

I had some hope with the Sequel of a highly engaging Once Upon a time in Mumbai where Devgan Sahab played the role of Haji Mastan flawlessly. This movie follows with the travails of SHoaib (Played by Emraan Hashmi in the first movie). Shoaib is now played by Akshay Kumar, who spares no effort to ham his way through. This was more cringe worthy than Tees Maar Khan, which at least was mildly funny.

Casting errors, who was the casting director? Love interest Sonakshi Sinha? You did not find ANYONE else? Also, Imran Khan? Does he look like a gangster from ANY angle?

Not to mention that since Shoaib is modelled on Dawood bhai, he seems very vague, moody and very unlike the alpha male he is in real life or even in the original movie.

If you watch this movie you would believe gangsters have no better work than romancing girls and going into fights themselves like some sadak chaap taporis. No plot line whatsoever, this movie was highly disappointing.

The genre of movies to which TMK belongs to is generally Spoof or typical Bollywood Masala movies. Reminds you of the yesteryear's Govinda fare. Leave your brains behind for this one! One thing is for sure, it was crisply edited. The movie did not bore me. I do love my share of refined movies like Guzaarish, Johny Gaddar, My Name is Khan to name a few, but this movie has its own space! Farah Khan entertains us and how! I loved Akshay's rendition of Tabrez Mirza Khan aka Tees Maar Khan's character. In fact, even Kat was lovable in her dumb belle avatar. Sheela Ki Jawani impressed and so did the song with Sallu in it. You could see the chemistry between Sallu n Kat in the song. I even liked Akshay Khanna in it! And I am not a big fan of either Akshay Khanna and Kumar, but still, loved the movie. All in all, the story seems predictable, the plot line thin, but the characters will entertain. Typical popcorn timepass movie.
