Angela Bettis is truly shining star making her way up the ladder in horror and this movie, May, really drives that home. Bettis is May, a lonely, tortured woman who can't quite fit in and Bettis portrays May in a way that's heart wrenchingly convincing. Splatter fans will enjoy certain set pieces in this film but ultimately this is for the horror fans out there who enjoy a good character study. The director, Lucky McKee, is actually working on a role reversal of May entitled, Roman, in which McKee himself plays the lonely outsider this time around. I really love this film and those of you who enjoyed "Love Object", "Dead Doll" & "Pin" may also find yourself purchasing this gem.

This awful film fell into the hands of my friend recently and I was unfortunate enough to be there that night as he watched it. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge horror movie fan. I love both A and B horror but this was the first film in years that actually had me screaming in agony in my head. "God let it end!! Let it end now!!!" kept echoing through my skull as I shifted uncomfortably while cringing. I could think of no other movie that had made me feel so anxious for the ending. The plot was disjointed and shoddy and some of the FX was shady. I normally can overlook those while watching B-movie horror but in this case it all worked for the worse. Steer clear of Hellbreeder.

A beautifully lensed, psychological thriller in which 2 sisters return home to their stern Father and "wicked" Step-Mother after a stay in the hospital. Upon arriving strange things begin to happen and the sisters are convinced something is amiss in the home. I purchased this movie several months before it came out on Region 1 Disc and I absolutely loved it! I later purchased the SE 2 Region 1Disc set. If you believe Asian horror has run its course, you should definitely watch ATOTS. There are some truly chilling set pieces and the end of the movie will have you awe. It can, at times, be a bit complex but it's a tense, well made film that deserves far more recognition than it has received.
