Borderline may be a reference to the lead characters insanity, but it also applies to the line that was walked in providing psychological horror and comedy. The movie was a lot of fun and it was unpredictable. The characters were well developed, and. Alba was outstanding in her role. I saw some reviews which were too harsh because we are not expecting an important or Oscar winning movie. What we were expecting was to enjoy 90 minutes of fun and entertainment. Borderline deliver that and more. During the screening, the audience had great fun and the laughs came at the right time and the Gore came at the right time. It made it easier to watch for some who may not enjoy the genre entirely. I recommended as a nice addition to this unique genre.

Without giving a spoiler, I will just say the ending was a dud. I enjoyed all of the performances, And of course, the script skullduggery, Even though it was hardly balanced. The ending, though created an absurd result, that distracted from the entire field of the movie. Ralph Fiennes was suitably tortured through his responsibilities and carried the weight of it very well. Stanley Tucci's character was designed to present the "modern approach" to the churches role. I enjoyed the cinematography and costumes and formality. The plot "twist" was not so much a twist as a device to end the movie in a Deus ex machina fashion.

With the title Elvis, I wanted to learn more about the man. Bad Luhrman is a bit obsessed by Colonel Parker. Thus, he should've titled "Parker." Where was the discussion of Elvis in his relations with other celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Ann Margaret? Where were the discussions and display of his creative choices other then to say that he was inspired by black musicians?

The whole movie was about Colonel Parker, not Elvis. Elvis made a lot of choices and many may have an influence. However, a more in depth And sensitive portrayal of Elvis the man would be much more interesting.

I found myself wandering away from the movie thinking about Tom Hanks prosthetics more than anything else. Elvis had a successful film career which was treated as a throwaway. Nothing was discussed regarding his alliances and relationships with other celebrities. I am a fan and severely disappointed by the movie that I was looking forward to so much.
