The story line is good, if somewhat farfetched, but that's scifi.

A plethora of ups and down, disaster followed by happy ending followed by another disaster.

Obviously designed to keep the storyline alive.

As for the cast: I've never seen so many prominent overbites!

Added to that we have an escapee from The Bill or East Enders in a pivotal role. An obvious token casting. Why not get someone who can act?

Then we have new characters who apparently have been hiding in the background for the better part of the series.

There is no hot water, soap, shaving cream, laundry facilities, yet everyone is always clean, reasonably closely shaven, not too hirsute, and not dressed in dirty clothes.

I know it's scifi, but a little reality check would work wonders.
