Warfare is an unusual film, it has no familiar actors, no soundtrack, a tiny cast, minimal set and gives only a vague sense of the location.
The audience has a very intimate view of the dozen or so Seals occupying a civilian home to conduct some sort of surveillance of miscellaneous Iraqis across the street but we learn nothing about these men who say or do very little.
The enemy is never really sighted, some radio traffic suggests there are other soldiers nearby but they are not seen.
Eventually there are perhaps 5 seconds of fighting.
I am not a soldier and have never been to war but I imagine this was a very realistic potrayal.
As an anti-war statement I judge the film to be very successful.
As a piece of cinematic entertainment I found it very poor, the first 10 minutes are almost completely black, the next 45 minutes started to become painfully boring. There is no action in the normal sense.
All up I did not enjoy any part of this film, as an anti-war statement it is powerful but otherwise it was easily the worst film I have watched this year.

An interesting premise that is perhaps not that far removed from real life. Mostly english language, it even has some Americans in the otherwise finnish cast.
The first few episodes do a good job of building a sense of confusion on the ground and in senior government circles. The conclusion however is a bit of an anti-climax.
Only has a small cast, the Finnish landscape is gorgeous, photography is good, the acting is pretty limited, I imagine it was made on a small budget and seemed to rely on stock footage for things like warships, aircraft were mostly absent. Overall, it feels more like a documentary than a drama.

I wanted to like this series, capable actors, reasonable plot, some very nice camera work and shooting on location, I imagine it cost a fortune to make.
The pacing is terrible, so slow much of it is just boring.
The action sequences are very limited, lots of briefings, getting on to helicopters and walking through jungle not much engaging. If there was a competent military plan involved at any point I missed it.
There are a lot of extras and minor characters, but only a small number of roles that actually matter. In typical apple fashion the female leads are all brilliant, decisive and heroic, the male leads are all muscular idiots.
It felt like very familiar material given a slightly more arty treatment, ultimately falling well short of films like Clear and Present Danger or Proof of Life.
