Adolescence has received rave reviews and is certainly worthy of rewards, especially in the acting category. However, I have a few reservations. No one seems to have noticed that it's nearly identical to the mini series entitled Defending Jacob starring Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery from a few years back (2020), which was also well-received, but is now forgotten. The big difference is that, in spite of Dockery's presence, Jacob is set in the US. Also, Jamie is 13 and Jacob is 14. Adolescence is well done but, frankly, redundant, which is not to say that it's not worth seeing. My advice? See them both and pick a favorite.

I hadn't watched this show in a while, but it strikes me that the violence is more gratuitous than ever. I"m giving it three stars because I like a couple of the characters, plus I remember Vincent Kartheiser from better days. Dick Grayson, on the other hand, is an empty suit. He's no longer Robin. He's no longer Nightwing. He's just another Dick.
