Lilli Vanessi (Kathryn Grayson) arrives at her ex-husband Fred Graham (Howard Keel) to listen to Cole Porter's score for Kiss Me Kate. Fred is to direct and star as the lead. Lilli is getting remarried and is unwilling to play the co-lead until the boys offer the role to Lois Lane (Ann Miller). Lois' boyfriend gets into a gambling debt and fakes Fred's name.

This is adapted from the 1948 Broadway musical Kiss Me Kate based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. I know the Shakespeare. The story is a bit problematic in the modern sense, but I tend to overlook that. I don't know the Broadway musical. I have no clue what's been added or subtracted or if that's a good thing or not. I cannot believe that they named the character, Lois Lane. They must have known. I like the songs, but I don't love them. I like the story, but I don't love it. The comedy is alright, but I'm not actually laughing out loud. This is good.
