Beautiful movie that just misses expectations
Anirban Chakrabarti is the heart and soul of Eken babu whether it is the series or the movies. Over the last few years I have also started liking the changed actors for Bapi babu and Pramotho.
The setting and the star cast with added presence of the heavyweights Saswata Chatterjee and Gaurav Chakrabarty brings a lot of expectations to the movie.
I understand that it has done well in the theatres where it matters but as a movie connossieur and a series fan I also need to be critical about the way the characters were handled.
I think the director-producer and the actor need to have a relook at the writing of the character Eken especially the dialogues and also expand the mannerisms. It would help Anirban ji to expand his characterization. With the knowledge that Eken creator Sujan jis demise a cpuple of years ago, the future of the series and the direction may be repositioned. As of now they are enjoyable but this movie made me feel that several things were repeating themselves while the movie could have been tighter. The Benaras darshan and Mashan holi there were well featured and kept with the series quirks.

This movie was in my sights for a long time but somehow I never progressed despite attempting on OTT several times.
Finally I was able to complete.
The movie does not live upto the expectations of a Nani movie and it shows.
Somehow the story strings between a romcom with thrill elements and an out and out action entertainer and in the process wastes the skills of two fabulous actors, Nani himself and Vijay Verma who had also done a stellar role prior to this in the movie Pink starring Amitabh Bachhan.
The showcase of the movie is the banter between Bhumika and Nani, the rom-com elements of Nani with Sai Pallavi and the three-way faceoff between Nani and Vijay with Bhumika the point of contention.
But the movie does not sustain this interest for long and fizzles out midway.
Easy on the eyes but not on the time.

The director Sekhar has attempted a story that is compelling and engaging and has pitted three superb actors against each other and all of them shine in this movie.
The movie would have been a perfect 10 but for the un-necessary introduction of Rashmika's character who no doubt plays an important part in the overall movie but would have greatly shortened the length of the story which suddenly goes off tangent and even looses some of its shape and hold over the audience as it goes for frills and works on that tangent with the introduction of the police inspector (all very good actors) but does not do much for the overall story.
I would have been happy and advised Sekhar to write away the character of Rashmika and promote the character of Khusboo played by Shravani as the aide to Dhanush' character. But the movie is done and has been super successful so I keep my advice to myself.
Going back the three actors Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Jim Sarbh play to each other and are the backbone of the movie. Dhanush puts in a stellar performance and we see Nagarjuna with two faces - one broken by the system and another ruthless but still harboring goodness and Jim as he always does as a cocky and cocksure person who gives new meaning to the word ruthless.
Dhanush is the heart and soul of the movie and puts out his best as the movie winds towards a satisfactory conclusion.
