Sarah is an Aussie fertility doctor, divorced, with one child, Mia. For Mia's 7th birthday party, Sarah invites her ex, his new wife, and Mias half brother, 3 year old Toby. The party turns sour when Toby and Mia physically fight. Also, Mia finds a rabbit she's certain is a present, maybe from newly deceased Grandpa in Heaven. Sarah doesn't want a rabbit. After this party, Mia exhibits stranger behavior. She wants to see Grandma Joan, who is in a psych hospital. Then, she makes weird drawings at school. Finally, she asks Sarah to call her Alice, which is the name of Sarah's sister, the one who disappeared as a child. What's happening? This quirky, slow moving film has its moments and surprises. The Australian setting is lovely, too. If you see every new horror film release, you won't want to miss it.
U. N. C. L. E. Is a secretive US spy agency fighting the World's deadly enemy, THRUSH. Thrush has agents from many countries and they plan assassinations and chaos to increase their power. Napoleon Solo - Robert Vaughn - and Russian born Ilya Kuriakin - David McCallum - are two of Uncles best. In the first episode, they learn a newly elected African leader will be Thrushs target in DC. Solo enlists the exgalpal of the hit man to thwart the plans. At one point, Napoleon and the lady end up tied to steam pipes ! But good conquers evil. In the era of James Bond, television followed along with the craze. Vaughn and McCallum are two wonderful, handsome stars who entertain and thrill. Everyone should look back and find these wonderful episodes!
Harrison - David Straitharn - is a Newsweek photographer. He has been to many dangerous locations and events the world over. Now, he wants to be given safe assignments as he has a loving wife - Andie McDowell - and 2 young children. His boss needs him for one last assignment in Croatia, as the former Yugoslavia has disintegrated into warring sub countries. He goes. Word comes to Sarah that Harrison died in a building collapse. Yet, a phone call a few days later leads Sarah to believe her husband is alive. Therefore, after depositing her children with relatives, Sarah departs for the dangerous war torn Bosnia. Will she find her husband? This film has some assets. It is quite good at showing the horror of war. Perhaps all leaders should be REQUIRED to watch it. It also has a fine cast, including a terrific Adrien Brody. But, the search by a suburban wife for her husband in the middle of atrocities is far fetched and seemingly preposterous. So, while a viewing is not a waste of time, the end will leave you unsatisfied.
