In this review I explain what happens within the first 10 minutes, so I don't consider it a spoiler and haven't market it as such. If you think it is a spoiler, then feel free to pass on by..

The animation looks like an ingame cutscene on an out-of-its-depth PC. It looks bad. There are no artistic flourishes that make actual animation look good. This is just like watching a 5fps cut scene in a video game.

To speak of the story and the design of the movie.. well, the big bad predator is killed by a 50 years old skinny woman within the first 10 minutes. The virtue signalling of the writers totally undermined the entire premise of the movie. They couldn't even keep it in their pockets for 10 minutes! Garbage.

What a ridiculous death too. It centers around the predator getting caught up in a boating anchor in water.. but the skinny 50 years old female warrior picked that same anchor up to drop it into the water and tie the predator to it. The predator, btw, is about 3x the size of any predator we've ever seen in a predator movie... and things weigh less in water... but whatever. GIRL POWER!

OK, ok, everyone can agree that perhaps there is too much melodrama in this show. Things just happen to keep things rolling, sometimes...

.. but the consequential writing is phenomenal. It really is. The main characters are so well developed and full, and each arc is wrapped up so beautifully. Far more renown writers could learn a lot from a show like this. The music and attitude of the show is so perfect. And to have much of the same cast, the very same people and storylines from 40 years ago, with never an ounce of respect lost or rewriting for a 'modern audience', is just beautiful and will make this show celebrated for generations to come.

The Silent Hour is a straight forward 90's-esque crime thriller that combines the better elements of modern action cinema.

There is no agenda in this film, just a strong cast of well written and and empathetic characters and a very solid plot and direction.

There is also no shaky-cam or ridiculous 90's action, Rambo set pieces. It's all much more grounded than that.

The movie is perhaps underrated or hasn't been given much attention, because it directly contravenes the modern Hollywood political tropes. Someone who I can believe is an inner-city US gangster, playing a gangster? Wow, that's refreshing. Some characters with real issues rather than identity or 'muh oppression' issues? Extraordinary!
