I remember getting quite excited about watching the first Paranormal Acitivty. There was so much hype surrounding it that I really did believe it would be freaky, however I was left utterly disappointed after the film ended up being boring and slow with the best bits happening during the last few minutes of the film.
Paranormal Activity 2 is exactly the same. It's boring and slow until the last 2 minutes of the film which were pretty freaky.
I just can't understand how people find these films to be 'amazing'. I know everybody has different tastes and we all know the world would be a boring place if everybody liked the same things, but I just don't get it. There are cheap scares and predictable moving / falling items so I don't see how either of these films are the 'scariest' people have ever seen? The only reason I gave this a 3 (and not a 1) out of 10 is because I thought the actress who plays Hunter's mum was quite good and because the ending was freaky.

This is probably the best of the 8 films to see before you die. The cast was good, the story was good, the effects and the tension was good. Only bad thing (well not bad, but disappointing) was the ending...it was abit over the top and abit tacky, but for me, it didn't spoil the fact that i had enjoyed this movie throughout.
It's basically about 3 people who, after attending their friends funeral, decide to celebrate his life by going to a quiet bar and having afew drinks. It starts getting late so Harris (Dominc Purcell) says he's leaving as he's got work in the morning...but his two friends Kira (Josie Maran) and Sid (Marcus Thomas) tell him to stay and suggest they go to the graveyard where their friend has just been buried.
All 3 of them get absolutely wasted at this graveyard and when Harris and Kira go for a little walk, Sid notices an anonymous card placed on his friends grave and opens it...he quickly goes to find the others and reads aloud the card he has just found....but what none of them are aware of is that he's reading out a spell to raise the spirits of the dead....but only those that have their graves danced on....so what do they do? Innocently dance on 3 peoples graves.
After that night, life would presumably go back to normal right? Well this is where it all goes haywire. Each of them are haunted by the person who they each raised when they danced on their grave. They end up bringing in the professionals...but you seen realise that even if you weren't there that night, dancing on a grave, you are still affected by the hauntings. Anyone who comes in contact with Harris, Kira and Sid, wish they hadn't.
It's a race against time to find out how to stop these spirits from haunting them, and WHY are each of the spirits so vile and terrible? I give this an 8/10...it's the best out of the 8 films to see before you die, and it sure delivers a lot of tension, and can make you jump on numerous occasions!

I must get this clear before I right this review, I absolutely cannot stand zombie films, I think they are completely ridiculous and do NOT scare me one bit.
However, saying that, this film, wasn't a typical zombie film with your zombies roaming around making noises with their arms out and their head tilted. No, this film was a little different than that. For starters, the zombies are children who at most must be 8 years old! This film tells the story about a widow and her 2 daughters who are moving up into the mountains to a house she has inherited from her late husband. What strikes me as being "weird" is that, they have just packed up and left their home, to move a house they have NO idea about, in a place they have NO idea about...but anyway, it's just a film. Thye move in, the place is an absolute dump, really dark, dusty and creaky, and situated in the middle of the woods. Woods which shouldn't be visited during the night because thats when the children come out to play.
The youngest daughter soon makes friends with one of "the children" from the woods, and the mother rakes out a whole load of history from the basement of this house, discovering that a massive mine explosion killed a hell of a lot of children who worked as miners many many years ago.
As you can imagine, the children are very sick and very twisted and don't think twice about using a pick axe to gut somebody alive. I won't tell you WHY the children like to go out on mass killing sprees in the night, I'll let you watch and find out for yourself.
The real bad thing about this film, is, well, like I said in my opinion, I don't find zombie films to be particularly thrilling, but the thing that could've been better, is the ending. It just ends like that. No build up really, it just ends.
But watch it anyway, as all of these 8 films to see before you die, are all pretty good in their own way.
