The story is novel and has enough scope to make it entertaining. But the director has been partly successful in making it. With such good actors at your disposal, one could have made a wonderful film. But the initial part is unnecessarily farcical and the actors are compelled to overact. Later, as the film progresses, the actors have really shown their strenth in their serious acting. Especially, the performance of Sonali Kulkarni is commendable. Normally, drunk characters in most of the films overact. But she has acted so well that it looks real. Swapnil Joshi has also done his part well. The last item song attached to the film was unnessesary and looks like a different patch all together. Overall, the movie is a good timepass but not above par.
The story of a detective goes haywire in the first half hour and never grips the audience. Acting of Sai and Sonali is the only better part of the movie. The story is definitely not original but a mixture of classic western movies stories scrambled in together. Hence it cannot fit in the middleclass setup of a city like Pune. The contunity, editing and sequencing is simply baffling and confusing to the audience. Do not waste your time for such a jerky movie. A typical Hindi masala movie may entertain you better. The so called detective works clumsily and never like a pro. No private detective takes the snaps of the targets so obviously, coming just in front of them. Naturally, he gets caught and pays the penalty.
The story would have been gripping. But due to poor handling of script, avaerage direction and poor acting, the movie doesn't impact you. Comic dialogues at the time of most horror movements, tone down the effect of the horror scenes. Veteran actors have done well on their part but the newcomers have failed to their expectations. The relations between the main characters have not been explained properly in the introductary part. The Munjya looks dangerous but the other characters possessed by him look pathetic and do not harm anybody except making ferrocious faces. It is hard to understand why the Munjya , once rereased from the Chetukwadi tree, goes back on the same tree again. The atmosphere in Kokan area is maharashtrian, The why make the movie in Hindi? Marathi rural language would have been a better medium for a gripping story.
