A rare glimpse into the life of Ma Annapura devi as an artist and as a human being. It is rare to witness a guru and shishya relationship like her and Nityanand ji; the kind of selflessness that they both exhibit when it comes to their craft as well taking care of each other was nothing short of extraordinary. The way pupils like Hariprasad Chaurasia ji spoke about her not just as a mentor but as a mother, truly shows the person she was. Her life was filled with ups and downs but I believe it was music that truly kept her going. I truly thank Nityanand ji and the director , Mr. Nirmal for making such a wonderful piece of art.
I really loved the message of owning up to your faults and never giving up that the movie conveyed. Pradeep Ranganathan carries the film entirely on his shoulders and does a brilliant job of convincing us that he is flawed , not perfect and yet likeable. He should not have or tried to hit either of his girlfriends. I love that the movie ends on very sensible and realistic note and that Dragon is still optimistic about the future. It has become a norm to include a confrontation scene at the wedding, isnt it? The movie ends on a realistic note, congratulations Ashwath Marimuthu for the direction as well as writing.
This movie stands the test of time because of how relevant it is till date. Usha is the way she is, partially because of her toxic childhood. Even the choices that she makes , especially regarding her partners , give her only partial happiness. In the end , she remains stuck in a loop ; she fails to understand her true worth and you feel like giving her a big hug. The role needs a lot of emotional maturity from the Late Smita Patil ji and she nails the character to the T. I need to watch Hansa Wadkar ji's films , on which the character is based on. Amol Palekar and Amrish Puri 's characters are so different yet toxic in their own way, loved the way they were potrayed.
