If you watch the series, you know music is very important. I always watch with captions on due to hearing issue. Words of the songs float by poetically punctuating the plot. When the characters started singing . It was very poignant. And unlikely to work in the format of the show. But it worked for me. I definitely admired the attempt. Very bold, it was delightful to discover who could sing. A talented cast. It turns out.but knowing who could sing is rarely how I have approached the show, so it seems extraneous to the show. It. It is impressive that they make it work though. The end is that the clash of forms can not be overcome ultimately. It work because it is a death scape and the song choice have flowed by us the whole series, it is great to have them brought to life. None more poignant than Trains "How to save a life" such a good song emblematic of the series. Also love that the first song was the words for Cozy in the rocket (Greys theme). In the end I loved how the main singer is ghost Callie watching herself go through this. In the end it worked for me.thank you to creators and actors, I found it very moving. Especially Callie's performance of I was made for you. Made me weep.
This series follows the lives of immature, trauma affected interns as they bumble their way from impulsive medical students to mature adults. They appear to be in the real world, but they are actually in a unique universe called 'shondaland" and are susceptible to the whims of this creator. They are in a universe that vaguely resembles a comedy soap opera. The physical beauty of some characters will be on view as the series has its moments of dramatic photo worthy pauses that never cease to gratify, such as the exquisite Dr. Burke, folding his beautiful frame
around his wild flower beloved, the recently miscarried Dr Yang. Or the collapsed Izzy Steven's visit to the bathroom floor, in her gown, following the loss of her beloved Denny. These moments are savoured like a good wine, but cannot deliver the viewer from the pain they feel when their beloved characters disappear, as they do in Shonda's world. The series can be commended for so many things but it's record of COVID as it impacted
Us, is a worthy historical contribution. Its exploration of the impact of a brilliant and deeply flawed mother, on her daughter is another.
Set in beautiful Nova Scotia, so much of the series is refreshing. But for some reason the writers took a well paced story of father daughter healing an draaaaaagged it out using several soap opera cliches while doing so, this includes characters not talking to one another ad nauseum, to build tension. Adding ten min of footage already seen to ep1 of season 2. To pregnancy games. The story in the book was good without all of these devices which breed impatience with characters. The series is well cast and the addition of frank and Edna to the story is lovely, I love that he story was moved to Canada.completely do not comprehend decipher to replay season 1 ep10 as episode 1 of season 2. This made it feel even more draggy.
