False advertising. The film begins 2 years after the discovery that there is something after death, but what this discovery was and how it was made is never shown. However, the film continues with the character who made the Discovery seeking to discover what exists after death. But if he doesn't know, how did he discover that there is something? It is completely incoherent in its premise and creates a mystery on top of a mystery never explained in the film, which is how the researcher discovered that there was life after death and how this convinced everyone. It would have to be indisputable proof, but to be indisputable, he would have to have proof of what would come next, something he doesn't have and is looking for. It sounds ridiculous, but it is.

For people to be committing suicide by the millions in search of a better afterlife, it is because there would be something better, but what is this something better that not even the researcher knows and this was the basis of the Discovery? Completely incoherent and ridiculous, he seeks something two years after having proven this same thing. The ending lightly touches on some interesting questions but has nothing to connect with because the initial discovery that there is life after death is never revealed in the film.
