I liked this one very much, and I dare say it is the second best DBZ movie amongst the older ones, behind The History of Trunks only. There are so many good points in this movie, and I'll try to enumerate them,

First of all, Super Saiyan 3 and the epic Dragon Fist, a technique that was forgotten in the manga and anime series are seen together here in an awesome moment. Super Saiyan 3 is one of the worst transformations in the series. I mean, it has never beaten up anyone, and this movie provides this necessary moment!

The plot is very good, actually. It is a bit more deep than it is used to be in DBZ movies. Characters have a quite nice development, and the dramaticity is way more mature. The ending could be even more dramatic, only that Tapion had to step aside for incredible Goku's Dragon Fist be put into action. No complaints about that. Everyone really wanted to see Super Saiyan 3 one last time.

Tapion is cool and Hirudegarn is amazing. His evolution is very surprising and gives him an even better condition as villain. Also the humour is less present into this one, but this is no defect, by no means. As I stated before, this movie is a bit more serious.

Stunning fight scenes, many characters do show up and fight. Even Gotenks, and he just shows up very quickly, which is good, because he is very annoying. It was nice to see him, anyway. Some surprises like Vegeta saving people. Well, this is a must watch for DBZ series fans. I loved it!

There's so much about this movie that it deserves more than one viewing. I first watched it as a teen, and I wasn't able to catch it at all. I must admit, I didn't understand a thing. I'm sure I was just a kid back then and couldn't grasp at all the dark elements that are present in this. I was expecting more gruesomeness, and this is gruesome still, but in ways that are even more complex.

As the film goes, Pat Bateman gets more and more.deranged, and it is quite a show to watch the brilliant Bale's performance. He kills for his ego. People, when they best him, upset him, and there's a point when this becomes uncontrollable. He starts to kill insanely.

There are so many great references. His sense of humor is madness, and he's got a taste for himself and music that's so disturbing, because it is exactly how a true psycopath behaves. Also this makes the movie funny sometimes. He talking about himself to some sl*ts and they... really bothered. I laughed really hard at that part.

There's also some really disturbing situations in this, where you see how plastic people may become when they aren't even psycopaths at all. That's what they call Wall Street culture, and damn, that might be even as gruesome as the killing itself. It is a great movie, it is funny, upsetting, scary, intelligent, and thrilling. I could watch this many times yet.

I don't know if it's because I watched the director's cut version of this that made me enjoy it. I noticed that the minor changes of this version is just a bit more of violence, and that's understandable.

Spawn's look is amazing, not only as burnt Al Simmons but as well his armor, mask and cape. As the film goes on he learns to control his powers and seeks his revenge with Jason Wynrr. Clown is a recurrent enemy and some comic relief. I understand he can be annoying sometimes, but I actually laughed a lot in the graveyard scene, where some guys makes some kind of pact with the devil and when they see Spawn and Clown they just wet their pants off, and Clown says "How come God hogs up all the good followers and we get all the retards?".

The CG for Spawn armor is incredible, but it is just stupid for the hell scenes. This was made when CG was new and they started using it into these awful ways they did in the nineties. The same thing in Blade (1998), which is good, but that CG blood sucks. Anyway, the hell scenes are more likely some PS1 game cutscene and it looks terrible and is more satisfying to just ignore it.

I think this is quite enjoyable. It has some nice action scenes, violence and the plot isn't bad at all. Not to mention the gothic vibe of the movie, much like The Crow (1994), when almost the entire film sets up at night. If you're curious, like I was, try the director's cut. Don't expect anything phenomenal, but it isn't pure trash, I can say that.
