Following the death of her mother, Becky (Lulu Wilson) is in a very bad place and when her father announces his intention to remarry it doesn't go down well. A group of very large, nasty neo nazi convicts arriving at the family lake house doesn't help either but there again Becky is a fearsome young lady.
Sort of daft and sort of fun if you're into blood and gore. Whilst what Becky achieves may seem unlikely, this does make for an occasionally exciting thriller, helped immeasurably by Kevin 'Paul Marr - Mall Cop' James providing a convincing turn as the deeply unpleasant chief baddie. There's plenty of inventive and visceral death scenes (having to cut your own eyeball out!!) for us all to enjoy and as late night horror thriller's go it's not that bad. A sequel 'The Wrath of Becky' followed.

Curmudgeonly foundry owner Kiichi Nakajima (Toshiro Mifune) is so terrified of nuclear war that he devotes a considerable chunk of his fortune to his plan to emigrate his family to a farm in Brazil, which he feels will be safe. His family take him to a family tribunal to have him declared insane so that they can take control of his money and stop what they see as madness.
Reflects the apparently real concern in Japan after the bombs were dropped at the end of the war. The film examines the not entirely unreasonable, but exaggerated fears of the man who holds the purse strings, desperate to save all that he loves. This is countered by the equally reasonable reaction from the family that moving to Brazil and closing their money making foundry ie their life, is crazy. Mifune is almost unrecognisable and is impressive playing the angry frightened man that the film tends to side with. Although, despite their own obvious anxiety around losing their money including probable inheritance, the film never really villainises the family who still live their father. Overall, dramatic and something quite original as a driver for a story, it has good performances and is on the whole well worth seeing.

Members of the G7 gather for dinner to plan a statement regarding a world crisis. Isolated in a gazebo in a forest the members are apparently pursued by ancient zombie monster things. The satire focusses on the intellectual twaddle they all manage to come up with writing yet another inspiring and useless proclamation whilst trying to find somewhere to hide from the creatures.
Rather kooky, surreal satire with the world leaders bringing their vast 'experience' to bear on the current crisis and making a complete pig's ear of it. It's enjoyable to watch them lovingly try to create a message of hope as opposed to actually doing anything, highlighting how useless they are in a crisis when out on their own and incapable of stringing a sentence together without invoking endless political soundbites and platitudes. The characters are many and varied and generally all bonkers, ineffective or both, I particularly liked Charles Dance half asleep and speaking with a perfect English accent as the President of the United States. Their use of political patter and affection for previous conferences and treaties - aaah Maastricht etc - and their great belief in themselves, rather rings true and overall whilst this isn't laugh out loud funny, it is crazy and rather amusing.
