Turner Classic Movies showed all 9 of the Dogville Comedy Shorts recently. I have NEVER laughed so hard in my life!!! These are hilarious spoofs of Hollywood movies. This is the story of a simple worker who was framed for a crime he didn't commit.

If you have a chance, see all these shorts!!!!!

I had heard a lot about this movie but never saw it until Turner Classic Movies showed it this past weekend. It is a stunning picture...and clearly an American tragedy that this movie was hacked apart like it was. The ones who were responsible should have taken the warning from the film's message.

That being said, I very much liked this movie. I thought the added still photographs tried to give the essence of the movie. I was also really amazed how they tinted the gold in the black and white segments.

The message of the movie is still as relevant today as in 1924. The irony is that at the end...even when the two men are dying of thirst, they still fight over the gold...and in the end it proves to be worthless.

With the Enron debacle, and other such examples, it's a shame that mankind hasn't learned that perils of true greed. A wise man once asked "What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his soul?" His words still ring true, and this classic movie points that out very well.

I recently saw Abraham Lincoln on A & E. While I think it was a great movie, it certainly shows its age. This is one movie that is a prime candidate for film restoration. The print is very scratchy and unstable, and in parts, the sound is very noisy. With the wonders of restoration, we can only hope that this movie will be one of the next.
