But what we wanted to see was the process and the magic that happens when the lyrics and the melody and the production hits an aha moment. We saw no actual writing or collaboration or content creation. Apparently the editors thought that the manufactured personal drama and hastily thrown together cuts were of more value. Nova Wav and Sevyn were the only adults in the room. And towards the end you could see everyone just chasing their publishing splits on the records, not the creation of a truly great song. When just being in the room makes one a "writer" and these "writers" get put into all these rooms to write for huge artists, is it any wonder that they have credits on a lot of hits? Of course they do, thats how the machine works. And finally, now it is completely obvious why music has been sucking so bad lately. Its not an artist suffering over one song - rewriting and rewriting- sometimes for years like leonard cohen to give something precious and long lasting to the world.. no. Now there is only these handful of narcissists sent from room to room, artist to artist, regurgitating cliches and inauthenticity. Sevyn is amazing. I wanna buy her records. And NovaWav is amazing. Too bad we didn't actually see any writing happening. Please, someone, give these writers permission to bring back content, humanism, and some raw unadulterated truth. Cherry? 🙄
