Just Act Normal

I logged onto BBC iPlayer and this was the first thing that was there on the release date. I hadn't heard anything about it, but I started watching it. This show was honestly amazing. The actors are so talented. It's one of the best things I've watched in a while. Please release a second series!!!

It follows the story of three young children whose mother goes missing. It showed the three young black children just as children, without the stereotypes that are usually shown in tv shows & film and the boxes that people and characters who are not white are placed into. It was so refreshing. It made me both laugh and cry. There were dark and heavy moments and topics, but the heaviness was always balanced with comedy in a really sensitive way. It was incredibly powerful.

Needed something short to watch and I ended up binging this show. It quite amazing it has a good balance of drama and comedy. The acting is wonderful; the storyline is intriguing and not a carbon copy of some other show you have watched and even better is it not a sequel.

Just Act Normal follows three black siblings whose mother died and them trying to act normal to other family, friends and adults so they are not sent to foster care. Of course, someone notices something off and starts trying to figure out what is going on.

Something I heavily liked about the show was the fact every single character had their own plot which did not always lead back to the shows main plot - but does help us understand their thinking. The characters just seemed like full pledged individual people

I'm not from the UK; however, I am still surprised I have not seen any advertisement or coverage of this show. I really cannot wait for season 2 :)
