"Neel Shukh" has a compelling story at its core - a childhood promise, family betrayal, emotional trauma, and a shocking climax. The plot follows two cousins engaged since birth, whose lives take drastically different turns as financial struggles, family politics, and hidden jealousy tear them apart. The emotional weight of the heroine's journey, from a hopeful girl to a betrayed woman seeking justice, carries strong potential.
Unfortunately, the execution doesn't quite match the depth of the story. Much of the dialogue feels overly theatrical, like a novel rather than real life. It lacks natural flow, and some scenes drag, especially during the middle portion. I found myself skipping several parts while watching on a laptop, and honestly, if I watched it in a cinema, I might have felt bored.
That said, the final twist is what makes the film memorable. The reveal of who truly sabotaged the heroine's life and how she takes calculated revenge with poison is intense, emotionally driven, and dark. It echoes the kind of psychological twist director Vicky Zahed is known for.
The film tries to explore complex themes like family expectations, emotional neglect, and silent revenge - and while the idea is great, it needed sharper writing and a more engaging pace to truly land.
Verdict: Worth a watch for the story and final act, but don't expect fast pacing or natural dialogue. A solid 6.5/10 from me.
