In the year 2035 a new law has been brought in, one that means parents of any child that commits a crime, are charged as accessories, parents must prove in court that they are good parents. David and Dione Sinclair are assessed to see if their daughter Teah was a victim of neglect, neglect which led to her committing crime.
I thought this was a series, I was expecting four parts of something along the lines of the Feud or the Holiday, a nice surprise to see something bordering on sci fi, especially a one off drama, both seem almost out of service these days.
It's interesting and bizarre in equal measure, I couldn't help but think that this was a reaction to Netflix's Adolescence, a low budget take on it with a time twist. The same question loomed, what had Teah done? It took time to discover.
Ben Miles and Claire Skinner are two of my favourite actors, great casting, they were good, I thought the standout was Saoirse-Monica Jackson, very good as the inquisitor, a character you could place in a reboot of Blake's Seven. I could listen to her accent all day long.
Only 49 minutes long, but felt long drawn out and slow, but let's at least applaud C5 for daring to do something a little different. I'm not sure I bought this version of a future, only ten years off. It felt like a segment from a film or series, not a meal, more an entreé.
6/10.
