Who says you can't say anything these days and comedy isn't funny anymore? This is proof that there is so much humour to be found in the modern world of supposedly hard to navigate social issues - it doesn't spare any cynicism or dry scathing remarks, it's rude, ridiculous, and rebellious but also a bit slapstick, silly, and sensitive.
I just had a feeling from the get go it was written by the actor who plays the main character, even though I'd not heard of her before, the script felt so much like an adaptation of an indie project, and turns out that's what it is. I always think these kind of shows just have something others don't, it's probably because of a unique perspective and voice uncompromised by a truck load of numpties in the writing room trying to dial things back and make it more palatable for a wider audience.
The humour feels so cheeky, it's got loads of heart, and for all the bum, boob, and knob jokes it's not all innuendo. Every episode is either a farce or a parody or an old fashioned romp, but with modern situations and characters, not flinching at the crude, brash, and messy chaos happening in this tiny little self important bubble that is the night shift at a crummy supermarket. Great cast, nice short episodes, just great.
