This is a Dark Comedy/Mystery TV show that has 1 season so far, and 19 episodes. Dustan j. Hlady is the director/writer. The average time for each episode is around 10-minutes. It can be watched over several days, or it's a great series to binge over a rainy weekend.
The story goes that Tatiana Singer is obsessed with the cult classic film, SIN3056843. She is on a mission to find the film's reclusive director, Lynn Sontalia, to help her to understand the meaning of the film and the story behind it; these are the two main characters we follow throughout the series. Tatiana has a husband named Chase, who is having a hard time forgiving Tatiana for her betrayals during their time together. His obsession is quite profound watching how his part in the story plays out, and his emotional rollercoaster ride is well placed, and the relationship issues between the couple is a great thread that will be relatable to the audience. There is quite a lot happening in the beginning episodes that setup the storyline and the overall plot. In her mission to find out the truth behind the film, what she discovers as we go through the series is both fascinating and compelling.
Once I began watching it, I couldn't stop, I was so intrigued by everything going on that I had to get to the end. It's a thought-provoking, atmospheric and character driven series, and it hooks you in immediately. With a strong storyline and solid plot, I remained invested the whole way through. It is not very often that I watch and enjoy TV series, because they are often too long and drawn out. In this instant, thankfully this isn't the case.
Overall, the cinematography is excellent, with a variety of viewpoints. The SOV (shot-on-video) filming really adds to the feeling of being there, as an experience for the viewer. The soundtrack is incredible and really enhanced the scenes. I was thrilled that we weren't shown the film's complete version, in that it was shown gradually throughout the episodes. There are excellent cliffhangers, it is what I would expect from a TV series, and they delivered. This series gave me the movies, Sinister, and The Ring vibes. The stories behind the main characters, the side characters and both Tatiana and Lynn Sontalia's interactions with people along the way is a great way to draw the viewer into this enthralling series. The meta-cinema towards the end episodes really adds the feeling of authenticity. The bloopers or behind the scene footage at the end of each episode is a great addition, and I looked forward to them. There are so many twists and turns to keep the viewer watching and wanting more. I highly recommend you watch this as another example of indie filmmaking at its best. If there is a second season, I look forward to it.
