Dark Legacy

For many, if not most, Americans the material John Hankey presents challenges some of our most deeply held cultural beliefs. That can make the video very hard to watch for many. But that in and of itself does not render Mr. Hankey's hypotheses as false. Can our deeply held, culturally instilled, predispositions prevent us from accepting information, facts, when this information is uncomfortable and threatening to what may be our preexisting world view? Having experienced the national trauma that accompanied the JFK assassination and, along with many others, having the lingering, inescapable impression that the official explanations were blatantly evasive and incomplete, I am glad there are scholars such as Mr. Hankey still working on the matter.

I wasn't born yet when JFK was killed and knew nothing about the Warren Report or the conspiracies that surrounded it until Oliver Stone's movie. Since then I have watched several docs on the subject, all of which I found to be good but really just a rehashing of all the sane facts and continuation of the more questions than answers narrative.

Until now. John Hankey does a wonderful job presenting new, never seen before evidence that I didn't know and makes a compelling, albeit confusing, effort to tie in all the alleged players in the conspiracy.

Hankey could've done without the animated swastikas, I found his narration to be somewhat amateurish, glib and greatly opinionated - you're armed with the goods, present it as facts, not opinion - and the one thing that really irked me was when he said that everyone ran towards the Grassy Knoll to "catch the shooter". No, people run when they hear gun shots to SAVE THEIR LIVES.

And shame on IMDB for allowing a "J. C. Graham" - who the heck is he? - to write the childish Storyline complete with name calling. CHANGE THAT TO THE OTHER STORY LINE YOU HAVE LISTED.

This documentary answers many of the unexplained parts of the presidential assassination but also opens many questions that cannot be fully explained nor have they been proven as fact enough reach the legal standard of beyond reasonable doubt. This film explodes several controversial theories and conspiracies but really does not answer many of the important questions.

* Who really killed President Kennedy?

* If there was a government cover-up link the parts together in a coherent way that establishes a who, what, how, and why of the assassination plot? And more importantly, was it important enough to kill a sitting president. Were they really afraid that President Kennedy would dismantle our national defense structure with the luming threats of international terrorism, communism, and world peace ever before us knowing that it is not likely that we would ever be able to trust world peace to them permanent care.

This documentary raises some very thought provoking and poignant questions regarding President John F. Kennedy's assassination and the conspiracy and cover-ups afterwards. Who all was connected? It could be a laundry list of people involved, but the links between them are not as shallow as one might think. Plenty of government documents exist to prove the filmmakers point, that is true.

Most, if not all of the people involved in the assassination are now deceased, or have to be close to death. Its been over 60 years at this point. The main focus of the film is George H. W. Bush, and he's been deceased for over six years. The point the filmmaker made about the media and others holding onto a lie could be true, who knows. "The winners write the history and the losers are written about."

In my opinion though, I believe it was a government operation carried out by the CIA, and Oswald was a patsy. There's just too much evidence available to the contrary. And I wouldn't necessarily believe the FBI in most cases, but Hoover had dirt on everyone. If Oswald was Hoover's spy in the CIA, he couldn't have said or done anything without compromising the FBI. Hopefully, one day, we will know the truth in full detail.
