A Treasure Hunt That Lost Its Map!

It is based on the Marathi novel Pratipashchandra by Dr. Prakash Koyade. The series beautifully fuses fiction with history, making it look like a real tale unfolding in front of you, which may urge you to search whether this was a real story.

Shiledars, who have been the protectors of Shivaji Maharaj's treasures and throne for ages, now have to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

It surely gives you an Indiana Jones vibe as the Shiledar and his accomplices try to find the treasure before the criminals do. What's funny is that if he is the protector, why does he need to find the treasure, which is already protected? And by finding it, doesn't he expose it to people with ill intentions? This major loophole weakens the series. The big suspense reveal in the final episode can be guessed from miles away, killing the impact. The riddles and treasure hunt sequences are neither unique nor creative, making the proceedings merely average.

Rajeev Khandelwal, as the Shiledar, does his part perfectly well and elevates the series. Sai Tamhankar provides solid support, as does Ashish Vidyarthi. Gaurav Amlani is a bit raw in places, but as a supporting act, he passes.

The set design isn't great, which is quite important for a series like this, as the grandeur of the treasure and the entire journey of mystery could have been a visual spectacle. Unfortunately, it fails in that department. The action sequences are amateurish, and the police subplot feels caricaturish since they can't solve anything.

The series had potential, but with a low budget and lack of creativity, it turned out to be merely average. It's not boring, though, and at just under three hours, you can watch it when you want something light.

Film not able able to give justice to original Book

One of the best books I have read till date was Pratipchandra .While reading the book I had no idea that someone of around my age think like that. I was waiting for the film on this book .

But the cast and the screenplay was not able to do what the writer was able to do with story in the book with his writing skills. The protagonist role , the storyline , the police , lead actress role and the conclusion everyone had a role that was justified but in the film things were not aligning .One time watch !! Those who are really interested the original book is what you should read. One of the finest EVER!!!

A Promising Historical Thriller That Falls Short of Greatness

"The Secret of the Shiledars" is a historical action-thriller that brings to life the elite warriors of the Maratha Empire-Shiledars-who served as the protectors of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The series follows a high-stakes treasure hunt, uncovering ancient secrets that could change history. Led by Rajeev Khandelwal's character, the story weaves through conspiracy, betrayal, and intense battles, aiming to balance history with suspense. With powerful action sequences, rich historical references, and a fast-paced narrative, the show attempts to deliver an engaging experience.

The series successfully captures the essence of Maratha history while delivering thrilling action. Rajeev Khandelwal and Sai Tamhankar give solid performances, adding depth to their characters. The cinematography is visually striking, with well-crafted battle scenes and an immersive background score that enhances the tension. The production design effectively recreates the grandeur of the era, making the show a visual treat.

However, the series struggles with its execution. The biggest flaw is its rushed storytelling-problems are resolved too quickly, often making critical moments feel unrealistic. The narrative lacks the depth needed to build tension, as conflicts are introduced and resolved almost immediately. Additionally, the plot becomes predictable, reducing the overall mystery and excitement. While the premise is intriguing, the show doesn't take full advantage of its potential, leaving certain story arcs underdeveloped.

Despite its shortcomings, The Secret of the Shiledars remains a decent historical thriller. It offers solid performances and engaging action, but its lack of depth and rushed pacing prevent it from being truly exceptional. It's worth a watch for history and action lovers but might leave others wanting more.

Good if you Keep your brain away.

Storyline and it's sequence is copied from DaVinci code but it's unconvincing from beginning to the end. Things will look fine only if you don't use your brain and just appreciate Maratha version of Davinci code.

No one could understand why Shivaji the great will have it's meeting in unreachable caves and what benefits it has for Siledars to keep the throne and treasure away from public.

THIS WON'T BORE YOU

A Quest of Hidden Treasure A Shiledar bound to protect it A person intending to destroy it Who will win ?

Adapted by the book "PRATIPASHCHANDRA" this Aditya Sarpotdar directed stands out as an absolute adventurous and intresting series. Though the story is a fictional story but the emotions and respect generated towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is real !!!

The concept was absolutely amazing. Creating this as a series instead of a film was a good decision. It couldn't have done the same justice to the story as a 2 hr film as it did as a series. The suspense and twist through the story was fantastic. Though some twists felt like predictable, some will really amaze you.

Rajeev Khandelwal is a truly gem and underrated actor. He has done a fantastic job as Ravi. The way he potrays different type of emotions throughout is amazing. Sai Tamhankar as Priyal Deshpande is amazing in her role. She did a good job. Gaurav Amlani as Adi, had not much but he did his job well.

Other actors as Ashish Vidyarthi and Dilip Prabhavalkar were also great in their respective roles and had good impact on story.

Coming to the musical part of the series. The background score and theme was great. Although there were no such songs in the series which made it intense and intresting.

Special mention to all the locations and set of the whole series. They all were shown amazingly.

That's it about this series. This is an adventurous and full off suspense 6 episodes series. It has action, drama, suspense, thrill and lot of respect for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The series though at some point is predictable but it won't bore you much. You can give this one a try !!

The Secrets of Shiledars Season 1 Review

The Secrets of Shiledars" is a six-episode fantasy-adventure series released on Disney+ Hotstar on January 31, 2025. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for the horror-comedy Munjya (part of the Maddock Horror Universe), this time he shifts gears to helm an action-packed treasure hunt mystery. The series is based on Dr. Prakash Koyade's Marathi historical fiction novel Pratipaschandra.

The show boasts a stellar cast, including Rajeev Khandelwal, Sai Tamhankar, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Gaurav Amlani, and Kanan Arunachalam.

Story & Execution The plot revolves around a secret society of Shiledars, who have been guarding Shivaji Maharaj's legendary golden throne for generations. Krishnakant (Dilip Prabhavalkar) has been searching for the next Shiledar when he encounters Ravi (Rajeev Khandelwal) and reveals his true destiny. At the same time, Ramachandran (Kanan Arunachalam) sends his men after Krishnakant to uncover Shivaji's heirlooms.

Ravi, along with his brother Aditya (Gaurav Amlani) and Krishnakant's assistant Priyali (Sai Tamhankar), embarks on a thrilling quest to find the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands-all while being pursued by the police.

The characters are well-developed, with each playing a crucial role. Rajeev Khandelwal shines in his dual identity as a doctor and a history buff. Gaurav Amlani brings charm as the tech-savvy younger brother, and Sai Tamhankar provides solid support. Ashish Vidyarthi, as always, delivers a powerful performance, while Kanan Arunachalam's villainous presence is noteworthy.

The direction is good but it felt a little bit off at some points . The director was able to generate goosebumps inducing moments at many places but also fails to make some points engaging. The writing is brilliant with attention to details and building suspense. It brilliantly merges history with fantasy making it a engaging watch. But the story felt a little predictable at many points. The odds and tension didn't felt so much as it should has .

The story had some plot holes and some unengaging plotlines but the fast pacing of the story made it unnoticeable which made the series a pretty good watch. All the story wrap up under 6 episodes of about 35 mins each. The ending wasn't conclusive as it left some questions that should have been answered. Despite the thrilling premise, the tension and stakes don't always feel high enough. The characters rarely seem truly endangered, which reduces the intensity expected from an adventure series.

It is a pretty decent watch. You will like it if you are a history buff or a fan of treasure hunt movies like Indiana Jones and National treasure. You can binge it in one night. I personally liked it but it could have been better.

Fun and Adventurous

Please ignore the haters. This show is one of the better Indian shows, especially compared to most of the drama crap created by the netwroks.

Firstly, this is not a documentary. It's an adventure show with a historical twist. Secondly, it's not a ripoff of the Da Vinci Code or whatever aelse people are saying. If anything, it gives National Treasure vibes.

The series is well-paced and brings some of the OG actors back on screen. Great acting, clear dialogues, and awesome screen presence. Can see why Rajeev Khandelwal did this show after he left all the horrid crying dramas. As always, he's fab!

It's only 6 episodes and is perfect for a weekend binge. Can also enjoy this as a family show. Please make more Indian shows like this.

Decent series for adventure watchers

Just finished the series...it's mainly based on books which is Focus on history.... I haven't read book yet but I found series decent...it has 6 episodes and length is about 30-35 minutes...nice attempt by makers to bring old history of shivaji mahahraj and his lost treasure... series started very well in first 2 episode in thriller aspect...from there only focus on adventure is highlighted....story is very intresting and keep you engaged till end..I wish there should be more than 6 episode... sometimes things are seen so much easy like clues and other things..if writing shoud more intense than it will be blockbuster series... it's one time watchable series now.

Screwed up script

I was very eagerly awaiting this show. I had tremendous hopes dur to this being a show related to Shivaji Maharaj. The storyline has unlimited scope. However, the script writer and director seemed too much in hurry to make this show. I don't know if they had any competition on this. Very very very pathetic script. Utterly poor direction. Sloppy acting by the lead artists. Script writer and director should have followed the Hollywood and actors should have stayed Desi. But it's the other way around. What a mess and wastage of such a huge opportunity. Actors are literally Hamming. There is no justification for ruining a wonderful subject.

Amazing

The Secret of Shiledar is an epic historical masterpiece that kept me hooked from start to finish. The storytelling is gripping, bringing history to life with rich details and powerful characters. The action sequences are intense, and the emotional depth adds to the immersive experience. The blend of strategy, valor, and drama makes it a must-watch for history lovers. Every scene feels grand, and the authenticity is commendable. Absolutely loved it-an unforgettable cinematic journey! Storytelling is masterful, immersing you in a world of warriors, honor, and intense battles. Every scene is visually stunning, with meticulous attention to historical accuracy. The characters are deeply compelling, making you feel every triumph and struggle. A must-watch for history lovers-it's a cinematic masterpiece that stays with you long after it ends!

Watch it if you love mindless action, but if you're looking for logic, keep searching.

The web series has a solid plot and good performances, but its execution is questionable. While it attempts to mimic 'The national treasure' movie, it falls short, feeling like a weak imitation. The action sequences are often unnecessary, making the story drag rather than intensify.

One of the biggest flaws is how effortlessly the protagonist and their team crack ancient codes-either the hero is a genius, or our ancestors were ridiculously careless with their secrets. The portrayal of security is even worse. The series makes it seem like anyone can waltz into government offices or even a judge's house with weapons, no questions asked. No wonder real-life attacks on monuments and institutions seem so easy if this is how security is imagined.

The police act exactly as we expect them to, useless, Clueless and Dumb. But overall, the series requires a serious suspension of disbelief. Watch it for fun, but don't expect logic.

P. S- The people giving it 10/10 are either from Maharashtra or just out of respect for our most brave king 'Shivaji Maharaj'.

Great try for showcasing indian history

The series provided a good approach on showcasing indian history in a fictional manner. Had a good story line but couldn't back it up with screenplay and was coming out as an indian adaptation of Nicolas Cage's National treasure.

But a good watch and had some gripping scenes to make it binge worthy.

Rajeev and Ashish Vidyarthi had a good performance but the background score could have been little mature.

Historical facts and figures were used very gracefully in the series.

Some scenarios might attract controversy but in a nutshell it is a great story to be portrayed on the great ruler Shivaji Maharaj.

Clean Series

I absolutely adore this series! It captivates me not only for its historical themes but also for its fresh approach and exceptional direction. The background music sets the perfect tone, and the acting is nothing short of spectacular.

In a landscape where many current OTT series lean towards darkness, gore, and unsettling violence, often peppered with harsh language, it's refreshing to find a show that inspires rather than detracts. These series and movies hold immense influence over today's audience, which is why I believe it's crucial to create clean, violence-free content. If we can offer shows that are uplifting and positive, the new generation will undoubtedly embrace those values.

I've been longing for a series like this for quite some time, and I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a watch! Let's encourage the entertainment industry to prioritize producing more content that is both clean and refreshing for OTT platforms. It's time for the industry to reflect on this perspective and take responsibility for shaping a better narrative for the next generation.

The best treasure and series of India

This is the best treasure hunt series of India. Couldn't stop myself from watching the series in one go. Amazing direction story line acting and plot. Rajiv has considered undergrated always but he is one of the finest actor in the industry and has done justice to the character. Even every actor has done amazing job. Locations and effects are also the best part of the series. The best part of the series is back to back suspense. You can't hold yourself from watching it whole in a go. Seriously made my day. The ending is amazingly drafted. Their are no flows in the series. Its a must watch. Thanks.

A Mystery Ruined by Illogical Storytelling

Rating: 4/10

Secrets of Shiledar tries to present itself as an intense historical mystery but fails miserably due to its illogical storytelling and exaggerated protagonist. The lead character is portrayed as more brilliant than Einstein, cracking centuries-old secrets in mere minutes-something real historians have struggled with for years. This unrealistic approach makes the narrative laughable rather than intriguing.

By the third episode (out of six), the so-called suspense is completely predictable, killing any excitement for the remaining episodes. A secret-based web series should thrive on logic and intelligent storytelling, but this one throws logic out the window in most scenes, making it difficult to take seriously.

On the technical front, the series is passable, but the acting is a major letdown. Except for Ashish Vidyarthi, who delivers a solid performance, the rest of the cast fails to make an impact. Their expressions and dialogue delivery feel forced, further weakening the already flimsy script.

Overall, Secrets of Shiledar is a one-time watch at best, and even then, only if you have no better options. With more thoughtful writing and better performances, it could have been a gripping historical thriller. Unfortunately, it settles for being a forgettable attempt at mystery.

Chhatrapati shivaji maharaj throne hunting scene was very emotional for me and all indians.

Unraveling the Past: A Thrilling Historical Mystery

I was thoroughly captivated by this series' awesome mystery storyline, which masterfully weaves together historic methods and intriguing plot twists. Having studied Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in school, watching this series was a thrilling experience that brought my history lessons to life.

The show's ability to balance action, suspense, and knowledge kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to uncover the next treasure or revelation. I binge-watched the entire series in one go, and it was an absolute treat!

Not only was it entertaining, but I also found it incredibly informative. If you're a history buff or simply looking for a engaging mystery series, this is a must-watch!" 5/5 stars.

A Treasure Hunt That Should Have Stayed Buried

If National Treasure, The Da Vinci Code, and Indiana Jones had an awkward, low-budget cousin obsessed with Indian history, The Secrets of the Shiledars would be it. The show tries to blend historical mystery with action but ends up feeling like a rushed school project rather than an engaging adventure.

Dr. Ravi (Rajeev Khandelwal) stumbles into a secret society protecting Shivaji Maharaj's treasure, setting off a series of riddles and chases that defy logic. Every clue is either spoon-fed or absurdly convenient, making the "mystery" feel forced. The characters are poorly written, the villains are cartoonish, and even talented actors like Sai Tamhankar and Ashish Vidyarthi can't salvage the mess. The CGI is laughable, the action sequences lack impact, and the pacing drags despite its short runtime.

If you love treasure hunts, rewatch Indiana Jones. If you enjoy solving mysteries, The Da Vinci Code still holds up. But if you're looking for a well-crafted Indian adventure, this isn't it.

Some treasures should stay lost.

MYSTERY OF TREASURE

Amazing story and beautifully explained all the concepts of history in a concised manner I personally suggest that everyone should watch this series to know the history and sacrifices made by shiledars of that time.

The cast also played the role very well.. There are many smart moves taken by the shieledar to find the treasure.

The series revolves around a secret society, the Shiledars, and a hidden treasure connected to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

* It's a historical mystery thriller with elements of adventure and treasure hunting.

If you enjoy historical mystery thrillers, it may be worth watching, but with tempered expectations.

In essence, "The Secret of the Shiledars" has a compelling premise, but its execution has received varied responses.

A Must Watch!

I don't remember how many times I exclaimed to myself, "Oh my good Lord!" after I had just finished watching this 6 episode show.

The Secret of Shiledars is an Indiana Jones inspired historical fiction, action-adventure around the treasure of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Rajeev Khandelwal was the perfect choice to be our protagonist, Dr Ravi Bhatt. He had no clue that he's the Shiledar and is immediately pushed into the adventure to solve murders and mysteries, save himself and his friends, and keep Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's treasure safe, all while goons and cops are after them.

The show was crispy and enthralling. The writing, directing, acting, editing - all on point. And though I could guess some of the clues and twists before the characters did, it didn't affect my watching experience.💖 Absolutely had a blast watching this show! 💖 I seriously do hope there's a second season. 🤞 Ps. Also it had Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar kicking some serious ass. Enjoyed those scenes so much!

Feels like inspired copy of Kartikeya 2, Ramsetu & Brahmastra

As said in title, it feels like we are watching mixed part of Kartikeya 2, Ramsetu & Brahmastra.. whole storyline is very much predictable. There is no surprise mystery factors like we expect treasure hunt type movies.

They just wanted to use Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's name to encash on the story.. Directors should have studied few south n Hollywood movies before making this one.

And top of it all, why to use Khandelwal as lead actor.? His expressions are always flat, watch it any of his movies. And btw, he has not delivered any good watchable movies or OTT series yet. All his performances feels like too much slow n forcefully acted.

Even Sai would have done a much better performance's as a lead actress instead of Rajeev.

Good

"The Secrets of the Shiledars" offers a compelling blend of historical fiction and adventure, though it doesn't always fully capitalize on its potential. The premise, centered around the hidden treasures of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the secret society tasked with protecting them, is undeniably intriguing. The series effectively evokes a sense of historical mystery, weaving in clues and riddles that keep the audience guessing.

The performances are generally solid, with the cast bringing a certain earnestness to their roles. The visual presentation is decent, though some of the production values feel a bit inconsistent. The pacing, while initially brisk, tends to lag in the middle episodes, and some of the plot developments feel a tad contrived.

One of the series' strengths lies in its exploration of Maratha history and culture. It introduces viewers to lesser-known aspects of Shivaji's legacy, sparking an interest in further exploration. However, the historical elements are sometimes overshadowed by the fictional narrative, occasionally blurring the lines between fact and speculation.

While the series delivers some thrilling moments and manages to hold the viewer's attention for the most part, it falls short of being truly exceptional. The writing could have been tighter, and the character development could have been more nuanced. The climax, while exciting, feels somewhat rushed and leaves some loose ends.

Overall, "The Secrets of the Shiledars" is a watchable series, particularly for those interested in historical mysteries and Indian history. It's an entertaining, if not entirely memorable, adventure that could have benefited from a more polished script and a more focused narrative. If you're looking for a lighthearted historical thriller, this might be worth a watch, but don't expect a deeply profound or historically accurate portrayal of the era.

One time watchable

An extraordinary story and plot but worthless screenplay. Some scenes are predictable and some logic mistakes. For example the protagonist takes a conch in the temple but how it is there on that place. Because it's a tourist place, nobody won't saw that on the place. Some characters are useless especially that police officer. His character doesn't help for the story. He is like an old movie police. Because they are coming to the crime spot after the crime has been committed. Then the 5th episode, why they(Adi and Priyal) are surrendered on the police. Villain characters are too weak. At the end screenplay has without logic.
