"Ouseppinte Osiyathu" is a touching portrayal of family dynamics that resonates deeply with anyone who's navigated the complexities of familial bonds. The story of a father and his sons coming together to resolve an unexpected challenge is both compelling and uplifting. The film beautifully captures the emotional nuances of their journey, blending tension with moments of warmth and understanding. The performances are heartfelt, and the direction keeps the narrative engaging, making it a must-watch for those who appreciate meaningful storytelling. A delightful surprise that left me reflecting on the importance of family unity!
Very very poor sound direction. After watching the movie I came to the conclusion that Director Sarath Chandran never watched the movie post production. A poor try hard effort to release "a" movie I guess. Couple of people are walking across a water-stream and footsteps are dubbed in, not the water sound. If the sound director had put the effort he used to add the cigarette lighter sound he added every time Kalabhavan Shajon lit one, I would've given the movie a 4* rating. Again - a poor try hard effort. That's all I can say about this. Props to Vijayaraghavan Chettan for his unparalleled acting.
Rating - 3.5/5
An emotionally burning family drama set on the backdrop of a hillside town in Idukki.
The plot of the story is about a planter & his family where the film explores the variations in their relationship dynamics on their selfish urge for survival.
The movie initiates in a cold mood but takes coherence as the story progresses and the director has maintained the pace of the movie demanded by the story but the main plot is highly predictive. Fazal Hassan has penned a good screenplay portraying the emotional dynamics and layers of the main characters. The movie gives us a medium for reflecting upon ourselves on what will be our move on an emotionally broken situation within our immediate family circle. The climax sequence was a thought provoking move by the filmmakers leaving the audience numb.
Subtle performance by Vijayaraghavan as the miser planter. Dileesh Pothen & Shajon has made stellar performances of their characters demanding abrupt emotional variations. Kani Kusruthi,Lena,Hemanth Menon,Joji & Zarin Shihab made convincing performances.
Good shots by Arvind Kannabiran capturing the essence of the hilly terrain. A good family drama that is worth watching with intense and disturbing performances.

Movie is very serious in its approach and might not be successful in box office due to the lack of entertainment aspects like fights , comedy, heroism of Main actor ...
Positives : Nice Acting especially by Dileesh Pothan , Kalabhaban Shajon, Vijayaraghavan, Lena, attractive visuals - the movie is shot in Idukki district with areas like Peerumedu , kattappana the night scenes are especially visible and good, most scenes are full of greenery and breeze, good background score and there is only one song which is not bad
Negatives : climax is sudden and may not satisfy majority, simple storyline.

Ouseppinte Osiyathu is a brilliantly crafted Malayalam drama that dives deep into the complexities of family dynamics, moral dilemmas, and the haunting weight of unspoken regrets. Directed with a keen sense of storytelling, the film gracefully navigates the tensions between tradition and integrity, making every frame resonate with emotion and authenticity.
At the heart of the story is Ousep, a self-made plantation owner whose decision to pass his entire estate to his youngest son Roy sends shockwaves through the family. What unravels is not just the battle for inheritance, but a poignant examination of what it truly means to earn one's legacy. Vijayaraghavan's portrayal of Ousep is nothing short of spectacular-his silent resolve and sharp gaze speak volumes about the burdens of fatherhood and the weight of trust.
The standout performance, however, comes from the actor playing Roy. His idealistic yet grounded nature brings a refreshing layer of sincerity to the screen, making it easy to understand why Ousep places his faith in him. In stark contrast, the elder brothers, Michael and George, serve as cautionary tales of ambition tainted by greed.
Cinematography deserves special mention for its ability to capture the lush landscapes of the plantations while also reflecting the darker undertones of family conflict. The script is tightly woven, with each conversation feeling purposeful and loaded with subtext.
Ouseppinte Osiyathu is more than just a tale of inheritance-it's a powerful exploration of trust, redemption, and the legacy we choose to leave behind. For those who appreciate rich storytelling and deeply human characters, this film is an unmissable gem.
