Loved this movie. Such a simple and good story well executed (both technically and screenplay). Can't believe this is directors first movie. Director scored well as a actor and director. Bright future if similar kind of movies are taken. Great screenplay and portrayal of our wonderful art and culture. Felt like I'm traveling with their troupe. Kudos to director and team. Chethan excellent acting (especially his reactions on disappointment, cunningness)and everyone. Appreciate the production house who believed in this story and director. Raja sir again proved he's king of music.

Must watch with family.

I watched Jama 2024 on Amazon Prime, which is said to be based on true events. The movie focuses on the traditional art form of Theru Koothu, and although the plot didn't seem particularly engaging at first, I decided to give it 10 minutes. To my surprise, the film quickly drew me in, and I watched it all the way through.

The lead actor, Pari Elavazhagan, was outstanding in his performance, and he also wrote the script and directed the film with great skill. The supporting cast delivered solid performances as well, adding depth to the story. The cinematography is another highlight, beautifully capturing the essence of the Theru Koothu tradition and the emotions of the characters.

Hats off to the entire team for delivering such a compelling film-Jama 2024 is definitely worth watching!

An art created as an art. In Karnan drama, Karnan says Arjun as Vada Rascolu..which is a sample of a dialog how this full movie raged.

A drop of tear from right eye of Karnan after Kundi Oppari, made the opponent to surrender for entire life who sacrificed for an Art.

Even though he dont like that character of Kundi until his turn sitting on back sheet to encourage the fellow artist is not only duty its the nature of that character.

This movie is just an epic masterpiece. The way of storytelling is what bring you audience engaged. Pari elavazhagan did this too perfect. Omg the efforts he just put into his acting oh man. He just carved with his performances. A true masterclass. I just wonder this is his first film . He just nailed with his screenplay, story and direction. The climax will give you the realisement of life. What a climax, i expected it that way. He did the same too. Soo melodramatic the way he showcased . He also showed the pain and worries of koothadi. A true masters, must watch movie. Please do check it out available in prime. A true master piece. All others did their role to perfect. Ilayaraja music was top notch too. The bg score was soo good. Ot was supporting the whole movie like a pillar. Pls do watch it.

The film's narrative is a dance between past and present, creating a intricate tapestry of time. We witness Kalyanam's childhood, his father's legacy, and his present-day struggles to create his own Jama.

All the actors in the film have done well regardless of a few lazy writing. But Thandavam is a stand out (Chetan Kadambi), a man consumed by his passion for Therukoothu. His descent into darkness, driven by his obsession with the art form, is both tragic and compelling. While Thandavam's actions may be reprehensible at times, his character is undeniably compelling. He is a hyperactive man-child, troubled by alcohol and consumed by his own ego. Yet, his fascination with Kalyanam's performance in the climax is a testament to the power of art to transcend even the most hardened hearts.

Pari Elavazhagan's decision to cast himself in the lead role was a stroke of genius. He brings a unique authenticity to the character of Kalyanam, effortlessly portraying femininity without crossing the line into caricature. His performance is a testament to his talent and dedication to the art form.

While Jama excels in its portrayal of Therukoothu, the love story subplot feels somewhat underdeveloped and feels out of character. However, this minor flaw does not detract from the film's overall impact.

In closing, August has been a cinematic feast for Tamil audiences, with a variety of films that have delighted and inspired and Jama is a worthy addition.
