Die Frau hinter der Wand

Because Amazon Prime, rather promising, advertised this movie as: thriller, erotic & horror, I decided to give it a try. Well, don't expect too much of the supposed horror and erotic aspects, but as a thriller it's actually not bad at all. The premise is reasonably original: a nerdy and impressionable freshman student rents a dilapidated room and gets erotically involved with his sensual but mysterious landlady, in the meantime stumbling over all kinds of dark secrets, until in the end even his life is at stake.

Story and dialogues are fine, the atmosphere is pleasantly creepy, and young Vincent Redetzki does a fine job as the endearing, inexperienced and insecure student who gradually evolves into a frightened but resilient anti-hero. In the climactic end there's some serious violence, but to call it horror is really too much credit. And there are indeed some scenes with passionate love-making, but all filmed pretty discretely. In the end I would call it a well done, non-pretentious thriller.
