MobLand

MobLand is a solid gangster show. Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza is brilliant, and other characters like Conrad and Maeve Harrigan are also strong. The story is emotional and keeps you on edge. It's not very bloody, but still intense, might feel too much for sensitive viewers.

There's a good plot twist at the end (no spoilers). If you liked Ray Donovan, this will feel familiar. Still, it's well-acted, well-made, and worth a watch.

MobLand delivers exactly what you'd expect from a top-tier crime drama - and perhaps even more. The screenplay is incredibly well-constructed, with sharp editing and a clear, efficient introduction of characters, free from any redundancy. Information is revealed at the right pace, and the use of parallel storylines only enhances the main narrative rather than distracting from it.

Character development is handled to perfection: each figure is explored to the exact extent necessary, with depth and intention. This really slapped man... So, so good, so gripping, tense but addictive, binge-worthy, although I took a big break until the last three episodes of the season.

Absolutely loved the song on the opening credits, it's so classic MTV, also I cannot believe this IS produced by MTV, they actually do good stuff still???

The cast is absolutely gorgeous, so many talented people all in one place, all at their best, but also the writing and the dialogues really give them a lot to work work with.

Mirren and Brosnan, what a mad couple, what mad individuals and even madder for staying together. Hardy is so expressive with minimal to none face movements, just staring at his opponents like he is five steps ahead. Mythical really. The ladies do a lot of suffering here as mob wives, well except for Mirren who loves it.

It's outrageous, it's gory, it's creatively sweary, pushing all sorts of moral boundaries for sure. Very British. I don't know if I wanna watch the second season though, whenever that will be. I am becoming tired of multi-season shows.

MobLand is a proper gem, easily one of the best British gangster shows in years. Helen Mirren is ice-cold as Bella Harrigan, Pierce Brosnan oozes charm & danger, and Tom Hardy brings real grit to Harry Da Souza. Paddy Considine's tortured Kevin is spot on.

The supporting cast aren't just there to pad the story line, they all add to the dynamics of the plot & each has played an important part by the end of the series.

The story moves fast, the dialogue hits hard, and there's no filler. It's not just about gangsters, it's about family, power, & what people do when the pressure's on. Every scene feels tense, but it never goes over the top.

It looks great too. Stylish without being flashy, with a soundtrack that keeps things simmering underneath & the best use of "The Beast in Me" by Johnny Cash in a series ever. You believe in this world, and you want to stay in it.
