Feed the Gods

The foster mother of brothers Will and Kris dies. Inside a box of belongings she left behind for Kris is a video labeled "Casablanca." There's no "Here's lookin' at you kid," movie on it though. Instead, it's a home movie of sorts. While Will is watching it, he notices a man and a woman in the video are the same as the people in a picture that was also in the box. The people turn out to be Will's and Kris' parents that the boys never knew. As anyone would do who never knew their parents, they decide to waste money and time going in search for these perfect strangers. The boys set out on a road trip to a town called Tendale in search of their parents, and Brit - Kris' girlfriend - goes along for the ride. Along the way, they stop at a gas station, and Will picks up a book about Big Foot. I guess you can see where this is going.

The group stops at a bed & breakfast lodge where they meet a couple who says they're there in search of Big Foot. Will finds out that there's a legend stating many in the town's past were taken by "a Wildman." They go on a trek through the forest, and the review stops here. I don't wanna give away any spoilers.

I gave this a 4-star rating. It certainly wasn't great, and as far as Big Foot movies go, I'd have to say this is very inferior to The Lost Coast Tapes. However, it wasn't awful or unwatchable. I wouldn't want to see it again, but for what it was, it was good enough.

Stumbling upon the 2014 horror movie "Feed the Gods" by random chance here in 2024, of course I opted to sit down and watch it, since it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, much less actually heard about. But given my fascination with all things horror and the movie's title, of course it was a given that I would pick up the movie and give it a fair chance.

And ultimately then writer and director Braden Croft failed to entertain me with this 2014 movie. Sure, "Feed the Gods" was off to a good start, but it really lost momentum some time before midway, and the movie never recovered its heading and just trotted on forward in a slump that proved to be not particularly entertaining. So I have to say that I found the movie to be a disappointment.

The acting performances in the movie were good, and that definitely helped to keep the movie somewhat afloat. I wasn't familiar with the leading actors and actress. There were a couple of familiar faces on the screen, though, but it was in minor supportive roles only, and that was Jerry Wasserman, Aleks Paunovic and Garry Chalk.

Visually, then you're not in for anything grand. "Feed the Gods" didn't make use of very many special effects, and it was a shame, because the movie might have benefitted from being spruced up with some special effects.

For a horror movie, then "Feed the Gods" was a swing and a miss. It is not a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time, despite making it through the 84 minutes that the movie ran for. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend for horror fans to sit down and watch.

I have to say that the movie's title made zero sense at all.

My rating of "Feed the Gods" lands on a three out of ten stars.

I thought it would be good because the title sounded good and Shawn Roberts was in the movie. It started okay. Shawn's character was too half baked acting, and he seemed like either a 5 year old or someone with a mental defect. His character "Will" had zero substance. Why was he even allowed to have a gun in the movie because he acted more like a lost child. The character was smoking cigarettes like a tough guy then he turned around and was about to run like a kid when he heard the " whatever it was " in the woods. Movie was way over half way through, and still no monster at all...!!!! The dark night scenes were too too dark. They needed sone type of light, everything was too dark!!! Who goes on a trip to a strange town without a flashlight !!!! This movie was a waste of time!!!!

This movie has decent acting, but a pretty terrible story. So many things don't make sense, and there is really nothing scary, plus, there are parts that I think are supposed to be funny, but the jokes fall flat. For the "Bigfoot" portion of the film, I give it a 1.

This movie was quite a surprise. I liked it. It isn't very scary or gory, but it has a charm all its own. It is funny, but it isn't a comedy. It just has goofy characters who stay honest to themselves throughout. We have two brothers who each have their own quirks. These quirks make them act differently than you or I would, but it makes sense to them.

The acting is top-notch. The pacing of the movie and the scenes are really good. I think this is kind of a hidden gem. My biggest complaint is that the mystery is so complex, it made the story hard to follow.

I recommend this one to monster movie fans.
