The message it's portraying is clear and shows the horror of social media. How they can safeguard the internet appears to be impossible. It's scary to know that children can easily be manipulated and believe everything at face value. Evil people prey on the vulnerable and these days, they have the tools to make it easy for them to carry out their depraved crimes.
So yes the film opens your eyes to the fact, in my opinion the acting in this film is dire! The characters didn't portray any genuine emotion, it wasn't gripping, it was a plodding beginning, middle and end film but happy of course she survived.

Good film showing the results of the new generation not respecting the parents and the parents knowing the worst of life but finding it hard to relay to their kids when surviving life is the most important thing to keep your family alive but they won't understand until they are parents themselves. All realistic to a point but Kristy is literally in buckle restraints on separate wrists in front of her body, so she could literally undo them and run away, even Matthew Marsden said the line that the kidnapper has not restrained her properly. Maybe that was a nod to the film makers not being realistic or just because they couldn't afford to use zip ties at the time but I feel they wouldn't of used that intentionally as we would all try and escape. But overall a good film showing that you think your kids are safe with them not being outside among the danger we know is out there but actually the danger is literally at their finger tips inside your own home.
I saw the many bad reviews and despite them still gave the movie a chance, I wish I didn't. I want my hour and twenty seven minutes back, the last 6 minutes are the only interesting parts of the movie and it just ends in the most disappointing way. The whole cast of the movie can't act apart from agent fry. It's inspired by true events yet it's filmed in such a way that you can't help but think that it's fiction, there's serious lack of emotional connection to any character whatsoever. The mother and daughter are both as naive as each other and it's incredibly infuriating. Don't waste your time.
This film within the first minutes, gives strong A. I. vibes. The plot , the characters, the dialogues everything feels so poorly written. I could swear that a quick interaction with Chat GPT would yield the same result as far as entertainment goes. Nothing ever happens on screen, there's no action , no character development and the most peculiar thing is that, it seems like the movie takes place almost entirely during the day! It made me question my existence and thus prompted me to make an account on this website, just to comment how much I hated the overall experience online. Overall a strong no from me.
First I want to say that this is a messed up world where perverts pay to watch children being abused.
I found this movie difficult to watch, but important to bring public awareness of catfishing. I knew going in that it would be hard to watch. So I tried to brace myself for things I would most likely see, or things that would be implied. But there is no way to prepare yourself for knowing that a child is being abused. It's just heartbreaking.
I've followed Cush Jumbo's career since her role in The Good Wife.
She plays Krissy's (Tia May Watts), the abducted girl's mother. I thought she did a good job. I think I heard her British accent creep in just once, very slightly.
I thought everyone was good in their roles, and the acting was above average for an LMN/Lifetime movie.
I don't care how savvy we think we are, catfishing is getting more and more dangerous. We must all be vigilant.
The ending made me emotional.
