Netflix has acquired “I Don’t Know Who You Are Anymore,” a spec script penned by writer Matt Lawton. Plot details for the project remain under wraps, but it’s described as “Palm Springs” meets “The Family Man.”

Lawton was most recently a co-executive producer on Fox’s animated sitcom “The Great North,” which is on its fifth season. The series, which stars Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate and Will Forte, follows a single father named Beef Tobin and his four children in the fictional town of Lone Moose, Alaska.

For all the gloom around the industry, one form of entertainment production in Hollywood is going gangbusters right now: short-form theater. And some otherwise frustrated writers, actors, and directors are rushing in.

Marlena Rodriguez’s credits include serving as a story editor on Silicon Valley and a staff writer on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but she agreed to direct a small stage show at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival, Near Sex for Work, because “it’s gratifying to be outputting things I’ve never done before,” she said. “Even though I am talking to my agents about staffing opportunities, I’m getting their feedback that there’s no jobs, we don’t know what to do.”

This year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival, the 15th edition, has a record 416 separate productions playing nearly 2,000 performances at small black box theaters like the Hobgoblin Playhouse, the Hudson or the Broadwater on Santa Monica Boulevard near Vine.

Exclusive: Amazon MGM Studios has preemptively acquired Survive, a shark-themed thriller feature pitch from screenwriter Ian Levy, which was brought in by Premeditated Productions.

In Survive, a desperate mother and her 12-year-old daughter attempt to flee from her abusive boyfriend. Their escape turns into a harrowing fight for survival after a highway crash leaves them stranded on a coastal cliff, battling not only the violent man they tried to escape, but also a group of sharks circling in the waters below.

The scenario here was unusual for Premeditated, a company with a first-look deal at Amazon MGM, which is better known for producing adaptations of existing material from its sister company, Entangled Publishing. Levy will adapt the screenplay, with Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark producing for Premeditated, and Director of Development Cayla Tyne overseeing the project for the company.

For Levy, the sale marks another achievement in a busy year of feature development.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame was an iconic and jaw-dropping animated feature that encapsulated everything great about the Disney Renaissance. The movie's source material was far more mature than anything Disney had explored before. The Hunchback of Notre Dame proves Disney can make a classic without adhering to some darker subjects.

Although a lot of Disney films were inspired by classic novels, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is particularly unique. Even though Hugo's novel presents a ton of Gothic themes and perverse character arcs, Disney managed to take the original plot and transform it into an utterly magical kids' film. Thus, The Hunchback of Notre Dame transports audiences back to the wonders of 15th-century France but doesn't lose sight of the original purpose of the novel.

When the film premiered in 1996, it managed to accumulate $325 million at the worldwide box office and was labeled as the fifth-highest-grossing film that year.

Cindy Morgan, the actor best known for playing Lacey Underall in “Caddyshack” and Lora/Yori in Disney’s original “Tron” film, has died. She was 69.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office in Florida confirmed the news to the Los Angeles Times, saying Morgan died of natural causes. Officials were not able to specify when she died.

Morgan gained notoriety for her performance as blonde bombshell Lacey in the 1980 sports comedy “Caddyshack,” starring Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield.

“‘Caddyshack’ was my first film and I’ll say that the end product was so completely different, it was originally about the caddies,” Morgan said in a 2012 interview. “So at first, I had nothing to lose to audition. It was fun. All I did was focus on making the person sweat. Look ’em in the eye, do that thing many women know how to do.”

Per TMZ, Morgan's death was confirmed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, but the circumstances surrounding her passing are not yet clear. All that's known at this time is that Morgan died "in the area." She was 69 years old.

Morgan may have been best known for playing Lacey Underall in the 1980 comedy Caddyshack, which marking one of her first feature film roles. Directed by Harold Ramis, the film also starred Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and Bill Murray. The widely celebrated film is still very popular to this day, considered by many to be among the very best sports comedies ever created. Morgan had embraced her association with the film, which included serving as the director of a Caddyshack reunion-themed golf tournament in 2006. The tournament, which reunited Morgan with other cast members from the film, raised money for the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund.
