Today I watched an episode of Food Unwrapped that dealt with glace cherry's and their production.
I have worked in lab dealing in food technology for many years, there was a lot of vital information omitted ....or not included in that particular episode, I know the process that (in this case cherry's) go through as well as the ingredients and chemical used to achieve the end result, very toxic, one little example... the person interviewed stated the colours used to colour the fruit was "natural" completely false, or that persons definition of natural does not meet the standards or requirements of most first world countries. I would strongly suggest that using this type of processed fruit be kept to a total minimum or IMO ...NOT AT ALL there are plenty of other options for baking and decorating fruit cakes....If you only know the complete truth about the process, you would understand my perspective.
Do your own research & choose wisely.
Kind regards r.
This show is better than most magazine shows, it is quite informative. You can learn the differences between the reasons for different colored olives and where dates come from for example, usually hosted by an overly flirty Kate Qilton.
There are some issues. Mainly that they are very mainstream, some myths are busted, but only if they are positive. This means never delving into too much detail. Negatives that might put viewers off or worse advertisers are never mentioned. Look at these delicious Almonds! Don't mention the water shortage. Look at these happy cattle, don't mention the short painful life and death or the enormous carbon footprint.
An OK show, but watch it with a huge pinch of salt.

Briony May Williams - sorry - has got to be the most inept unprofessional tv presenter in any program - shouting and asking lame questions. It is embarrassing watching her try to do this job. She is not cut out for it. I love food unwrapped but to have people who are not up to the job at all used in the program is just silly.
