Aamir Khan in Sitaare Zameen Par (2025)

Good Enough-But Could Be Better

I wasn't disappointed, but the film could have been better given Aamir's standards.

Both halves are cute and short, with no real stakes or conflict, making it a harmless watch if you buy the simple setup in the beginning.

However, the premise-community service for DUI and focus on intellectually disabled people-feels unrealistic in India, making it hard to connect.

The story wasn't adapted enough for the local context. Aamir is good, Genelia is refreshing, but their subplot drags.

Basketball as the central sport adds to the foreign feel.

Overall, it's a decent, simple film-watchable, but not memorable.

Return of Mr. Perfectionist

Sitaare Zameen Par is an absolute heart-stealer! As an Aamir Khan admirer, I went in with sky-high expectations, and I wasn't disappoint! Film is funny, emotional, and so inspiring! Aamir Khan's portrayal of Gulshan is so good! He plays a confident but flawed basketball coach who has to train a group of neurodivergent players. At first, he's like, "why me?" but soon he grows to love his team, calling them "my stars!" His journey feels so real and heartfelt. He's got that classic Aamir charm but with a raw, relatable edge. Each one sitaares are real MVPs. You'll totally love Satbir, Golu, Hargovind, and the whole team! Their scenes are so fun, making you laugh hard one moment and cry the next. The supporting cast, like Genelia, Dolly Ahluwalia and Brijendra Kala, adds such warmth and fun. The story, a remake of Champions, feels fresh for Bollywood, tackling inclusion with a big heart without being preachy. Sure, the second half drags a tiny bit, and it doesn't hit the Taare Zameen Par level of perfection (what could?!), but it's such a feel-good ride. It's like a warm hug that reminds you everyone's normal is beautiful. If you don't go to the theatre expecting TZP 2 then you will enjoy it more. Mr. Perfectionist is finally back after years.

Analogous to True Detective Season 2

Watching Sitare Zameen Par is like stepping into True Detective Season 2 - a valiant attempt to recreate something unforgettable, but ultimately burdened by the shadow of its own legacy.

Just like True Detective's first season, Taare Zameen Par was a near-perfect blend of emotion, subtlety, and originality. It didn't scream; it whispered - and in those whispers, it told a story so universally touching that it redefined how we saw childhood, learning disorders, and even parenting.

Sitare Zameen Par, like True Detective Season 2, has all the tools: a solid premise, an emotional backbone, and a creator who clearly cares. It tries to explore similar themes of empathy and personal growth - but while it's good, maybe even very good in parts, it lacks the quiet magic and raw honesty that made the original so timeless.

Where Taare Zameen Par flowed like poetry, Sitare often feels like a script trying to recapture past glory. The heart is there, but it's a little more manufactured, a little more self-aware. It's louder, flashier, and less intimate - and as a result, it doesn't hit you in the gut the way Ishaan's story did.

So yes, Sitare Zameen Par is commendable - just like Season 2 of True Detective had its own charm and ambition. But when you're chasing the impossible standard set by a masterpiece, even good can feel like not enough.

⭐ Verdict: Worth a watch. But if you're expecting the same emotional transcendence as Taare Zameen Par, manage your expectations. Lightning rarely strikes the same place twice.

A heartwarming loyal remake.

Gulshan is a junior coach to Delhi basketball team and clashes with the head coach during a losing match. The physical altercation with the head coach gets him suspended and to make things worse, he gets involved in a drunk and drive accident. He is sentenced to do community service to avoid jail term and is asked to coach the basketball team of specially abled. Gulshan is already in a rocky relationship with his wife Suneetha who wants to have a kid and Gulshan has his insecurities. How does Gulshan own up to his mistakes and start taking responsibility, starting with his team and what impact do these bunch have on him, forms rest of the story.

I liked the Spanish original and not so much it's sequel or even the American remake. I was skeptical about watching this loyal remake, fearing I wouldn't be able to appreciate in comparison with the original. However, R. S. Prasanna and Divy Nidhi Sharma have done a phenomenal job in adapting the film and especially the light hearted humor remain the best thing about this film. Next, it is the solid casting which does the trick and it is easy to connect to all these characters. R. S. Prasanna strikes a superb balance between humor and emotional scenes though it does get preachy a lot. With Aamir in the forefront, there was no chance of them going wrong with the remake. His honest performance is just too good and his comic timing is impeccable. I would rate it leniently solely because I ended up enjoying this as much as I enjoyed the original and that alone deserves the applause.

After a long Aamir Khan created magic !

SZP is a Masterpiece... Brilliant. Gripping. Heartfelt. Unforgettable.

Aamir Khan delivers yet another cinematic triumph... A tour de force performance backed by soul-stirring storytelling.

It takes real courage to make a film like this. Hats off to #AamirKhan & his team ,He's amazing in the movie - his acting, the way he delivers dialogues, everything is top class.

I really liked that he showed his real age on screen, Genelia D'Souza is a delight!

And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the 2nd half came as a surprise-and it surpasses the 1st half! The laugh riot scenes, especially the sequence with Aamir's mother, all the players' shenanigans, and everything else - brilliant presentation, man!

Sitaare Zameen Par - A feel good drama driven by emotions, humour and a good screenplay leaving a thoughtful message

Rating - 3.5/5

A feel good drama driven by humour giving some beautiful insights on life.

The plot of the story revolves around a Basketball coach who has to train a group of adults with down syndrome and how his interaction with them changes his attitude towards life and others around him.

Good writing by Divy Sharma well executed by R S Prasanna perfectly blending humour and fun without drifting away from the core storyline emotionally lifting the audience through some valuable and thoughtful virtues on life. The first half was more fun oriented while the latter half was more emotionally moving closely clinging to humour. Hats off to the casting directors for bringing the ideal talents to the showreel.

Brilliant performance by Aamir Khan showing the variations in the character precisely. The director has effortlessly pulled out the relationship dynamics and combo with Genelia and her performances was so charming and matured. Impressive performances by Dolly Ahluwalia,Naman Mishra,Ayush Bhansali, Gopikrishnan Verma, Simran, Rishi Shahabi & Gurpal Singh.

Good music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and exceptional background score by Ram Sampath adding more depth and feel to the emotional sequences. Kudos to the editor Charu for giving a feel good emotional entertainer.

A good one time watch movie with incredible performances leaving a good message.

Only Nobility, No Genuinity, marginal entertainment

Amir is back!! With a forgettable saga of events which are on a same tone and same level,

Movie hardly any change in the pace or goosebump moments. Emotions run dry by the second half of the movie when you are already accustomed to the topic and expect it to do far greater than it seems to achieve. Topic was strong, story was weak. Acting was above average with lot of similarity from it's predecessor TzP and hence that also falls short of giving you your moneys worth.

Overall, avoid if you are a rare movie watcher in theatres. For the ones who likes to be there in cinema halls and can sustain average content should watch once at least. Life won't change if you miss out on this one though.

Lacks the nuances of Aamir's earlier movies.....

Like "Taara Zameen Par,' the film delivers an important message on the specialty of every individual. This time the film delves into the world of mentally challenged individuals with a homophobic coach to train their team for a basketball tournament. The story carried an interest. But alas, the expectations on emotions weren't met this time. The ease with which the situations are handled don't match the nuances of Aamir Khan's earlier movies like "Taare Zameen Par," "Dangal," or "Secret Superstar." Despite a sensitive subject it chooses, the deliverance drops into a passable fare than a memorable piece of cinema that every Aamir Khan's movie proved to be in recent years.

Rating: 1.5 stars out of 4.

Everyone should watch this movie

Sitaare Zameen Par is a feel good, socially conscious film that leans into its emotional core and warm performances rather than groundbreaking storytelling. It may feel familiar in its structure, but Aamir Khan's dedication, the charm of the neurodiverse cast, and its heartfelt message make it a rewarding theatrical experience-especially for families and anyone who loves cinema with a purpose. Sitaare Zameen Par is a warm-hearted, inspirational film anchored by Aamir Khan's nuanced performance and a spirited ensemble. Though it follows a familiar arc, its genuine portrayal of neurodiversity and positive energy make it a worthwhile pick for viewers seeking emotional connection and meaningful storytelling.

Sitaare Zameen Par - A Heartfelt One-Time Watch

Sitaare Zameen Par is a feel-good family entertainer that delivers its share of laughter, warmth, and emotional moments. The film keeps you engaged throughout - you hardly realize how time flies while watching it. It's filled with light-hearted scenes that bring smiles, along with a few touching moments that add depth to the experience.

While the movie is enjoyable, it doesn't break new ground in terms of storytelling. The plot is decent, but not particularly unique or emotionally stirring. If you're expecting the same level of emotional impact or brilliance as Taare Zameen Par, this one may fall short. That said, it still manages to hold its own as a breezy, engaging watch.

The performances are good across the board. The actors do justice to their roles, bringing charm and sincerity to their characters. However, none of the performances truly stand out as exceptional or memorable. It's a film that stays within its comfort zone - entertaining without aiming too high.

Overall, Sitaare Zameen Par is a solid one-time watch with a basic story. It's perfect for a relaxed family movie night, where you're looking for something light, enjoyable, and uplifting. While it may not stay with you long after the credits roll, it's certainly worth a watch for its positive vibe and heartfelt moments.

Weak screenplay and direction

Sitaare zameen par boasts of a social message and powerful performances. However, in my opinion the screenplay is not at all engaging and the performances lacks emotional depth. AKs expressions are robotic and his acting is below par. He's good in certain scenes like the climax but overall it seems he forgot acting. Some children performed their roles excellently but movie keeps on dragging. The comic sequences are not executed well. Overall, the movie drags on for 2hr 30 min and really checks the patience of the audience.

This is not a commercial movie the songs are only played in the background. From my point of view, I thought there was a possibility of adding new scenes with some humour but overall the movie is not at all watchable once not even on OTT.

Just unbelievable

What truly elevates "Sitaare Zameen Par" is its powerful and relevant message. It's a film that inspires, educates, and challenges preconceived notions, all while entertaining thoroughly. The themes explored are universal, making it relatable to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. It's a celebration of individuality, resilience, and the power of human connection, wrapped in a compelling package that speaks directly to the heart.

The supporting cast, including the remarkable debut performances of the neurodivergent actors, deserves immense praise. Their genuine portrayals add an incredible layer of authenticity and emotional depth, making the film even more impactful. The chemistry among the actors is palpable, creating relationships that feel real and endearing.

Visually, the film is a treat, with stunning cinematography that beautifully captures the essence of its setting. The music, too, is a standout, perfectly complementing the narrative and enhancing the emotional resonance of key scenes. It's the kind of soundtrack that stays with you, evoking the film's warmth and inspiration long after you've heard it.

In an era where meaningful cinema is often overshadowed, "Sitaare Zameen Par" stands tall as a beacon of hope. It's a family entertainer that transcends generations, offering something for everyone. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, and most importantly, it makes you think. This isn't just a movie for the weekend; it's a film that sparks conversations, encourages introspection, and leaves you with a renewed sense of hope and understanding.

Aamir Khan and the entire team behind "Sitaare Zameen Par" have truly outdone themselves. They've crafted a masterpiece that will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most significant films of its time. Go watch it - you won't be disappointed!

A Decent Film, Genelia Glows

Yesterday I watched Sitare Zameen Par. The movie delivers a good message, but honestly, it didn't feel extraordinary to me. The concept was meaningful, but the emotional depth was missing at many points.

Frankly, I didn't enjoy Aamir Khan's acting this time. His performance felt flat, and in scenes where emotions should have touched the heart, they somehow failed to create that strong impact. If Aamir had delivered a more powerful performance, many moments could have been much more moving.

Interestingly, while watching, I had a strange feeling - it felt like I saw glimpses of old Genelia D'Souza in the film. The grace, innocence, and effortless charm reminded me of her earlier work. That brief emotional connection touched my heart more than anything else in the movie.

Overall, Sitare Zameen Par has a good intention and carries a message, but it lacked the emotional pull for me. A stronger lead performance could have made it much more memorable.

Pure, Heartwarming and Thoughtful

Sitaare Zameen Par is a pure and wholesome tale of human understanding. The movie might take some time to set up, but it's a complete ride of emotions, laughter, and drama. Aamir Khan is finally back with a worthy product, and it's a delight to see him in his element. It was just so refreshing to see Genelia, as if she never left the game. Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, and Bijendra Kala are sweet additions to the cast with their organic performances. All this apart, the real heroes of the movie are our very special Sitaare, who'll make you feel every emotion. The gags land well and make you chuckle.

The songs of the film blend in well but are mostly forgettable; except for the title track. The motivations behind multiple plot points have been showcased effectively. A few scenes felt like Aamir could've conveyed more through his eyes and facial expressions instead of relying so much on dialogue. The interval block wasn't conventional, but it was portrayed in a very sweet way with a thoughtful message. Overall, Sitaare Zameen Par is a wholesome, feel-good movie that will leave you smiling as you exit the theatre.

Has its heart touching moments!

The story is about a basketball team of gifted children. An arrogant coach is given the duty to train them as a community service after he is found guilty of drunk and driving.

When I watched the trailer I was excited. I however found the movie to be little dragging. But no worries the movie has its heart touching moments.

Gifted people may come difficult to manage but have behavior like that of children. They are innocent at heart.

Music is average. Acting from the gifted people wins your heart, Aamir along with others is good as well.

Final Verdict: Do watch it along with family you won't be disappointed.

Review from an honest Aamir fan

Aamir Khan thought he played a master stroke by calling it a sequel to his national award winning all time blockbuster - Taare Zameen Par. But it has backfired. I still remember the first movie's amazing songs, background music and the moments that made everyone feel it in their throat.

Being an Aamir fan and knowing how involved he is in every part of the creative process I am disappointed with his work and even suspect an undignified motive of making a low budget project simply to fill back the bank.

The movie has boring to no background music, unmemorable songs, no eye watering dialogues, bland cinematography and camera work, jumping to hurriedly show blandly funny bits regularly makes this product imprecisely half baked.

The only thing noteworthy are some of the scenes shot by the special people. Considering their condition, them being able to pull off hectic shooting schedules is extraordinary.

I hope Aamir is still able to bounce back in the future rather than living with the fact that he has lost the knack of mr. Perfectionist.

Still watchable compared to most Bollywood films nowadays but for him we can expect much much more.

I'll rate it 6.5/10.

Heart touching concept, failed efforts!

I have always been a die hard fan of Amir Khan. Unsure why his acting is becoming quite monotonous i feel lately, eg - PK and Lalsingh / 3 idiots & SZP / etc.

After giving such amazing and unforgettable performances over the years, i strongly feel his creativity has come to an end. His acting and performance is quite limited and lacks versatility.

SZP being a beautiful concept, he has clearly failed to deliver and not done justice to original movie. He seems surprised on every single dialogue and conversation, expressionless, not going with the flow, struggling to maintain rhythm and flow and lot more.

Performance from kids is absolutely fantabulous, if not for them I would have walked out. Amir sir - please bring your old passion and creativity back, we all are missing you badly!

A Touching Journey of Redemption and Inclusion

In Sitaare Zameen Par (2025), director R. S. Prasanna delivers a heartfelt and engaging Hindi-language sports comedy-drama that speaks volumes about empathy, transformation, and human connection. Touted as the spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par (2007), this film isn't just a nostalgic nod-it stands tall on its own merit.

Adapted from the 2018 Spanish film Champions, the story revolves around a hot-headed basketball coach (played by Aamir Khan) who is sentenced to community service after a DUI. His punishment? Training a team of neurodivergent adults for a tournament. What begins as a reluctant chore slowly evolves into a life-changing experience-for the coach and his team alike.

The film is rightly paced, never dragging or rushing through key emotional beats. It takes its time to establish each character, ensuring that every player on the team feels real, dignified, and memorable. Genelia D'Souza brings warmth and conviction to her role, complementing Aamir Khan's layered performance with quiet strength.

Technically, Sitaare Zameen Par excels. Direction, screenplay, editing, and background music blend seamlessly to create an immersive viewing experience. While the songs are well integrated and support the narrative, none leave a lasting echo beyond the cinema hall-which might be its only minor shortfall.

Yet the true strength of the film lies in its emotionally resonant storytelling. It is a heart-rendering piece that doesn't exploit disability for sympathy but celebrates the uniqueness of each character. The adaptation is pitch-perfect for Indian audiences, capturing both the cultural nuances and universal themes with equal finesse.

In all, Sitaare Zameen Par is more than a remake-it's a moving, inclusive tale about second chances and unseen stars. Aamir Khan returns with a bang, not just as an actor but as a storyteller who knows how to reach the heart.

Rating: 10/10 An emotionally rich, well-crafted gem that reaffirms the power of cinema to uplift and unite.

An important message via good comedy

The Good What truly elevates the film is its casting. It's refreshing to see new faces in every role - especially the mother's character, which avoids the usual typecasting we've come to expect. This decision adds realism and keeps the film from falling into a formulaic trap.

Another major win is the film's authenticity. Instead of hiring trained actors to portray specially-abled children, the makers cast real kids. That choice lends rawness and emotional weight to the narrative, making moments feel genuinely lived rather than performed.

The film also deserves praise for its topic - it dares to say what many avoid: "Sabka apna normal hota hai." In a landscape dominated by safe, commercial storytelling, it's commendable that a mainstream actor took the risk to back a story that truly matters.

While the writing lacks big surprises, each child gets meaningful character development, a subtle but impactful achievement in ensemble storytelling.

The Bad That said, the second half feels stretched. The story loses its tight grip, especially after the midpoint, making the climax feel less impactful than it could have been.

Aamir Khan's performance, though laced with his signature comic timing, feels underwhelming by his own standards. A couple of jokes fall flat - forgivable in a debutant, but disappointing from a seasoned performer. Playing an arrogant common man is not a particularly challenging role for him, and it shows.

Another drawback is the cluttered messaging. While the core theme is strong, the film veers off to touch multiple social topics like marriage, which weakens the central narrative and makes it feel diluted.

Verdict This is a film with its heart in the right place. Though it falters in pacing and message clarity, the sincerity, casting choices, and courage to tackle an unconventional subject make it worth a watch.

Disappointed: What message are we giving to the kids about the most respectful people of our lives?

Recently, while watching a widely appreciated film like Sitaare Zameen Par couldn't help but reflect on a few things, especially the portrayal of coaches.

Yes, storytelling must be relatable, entertaining, and real. Conflicts between mentors, differences of opinion, and even harsh words do happen in real life. But when we present such moments without sensitivity or consequence, what message are we passing on to children?

In the film, one coach openly disrespects another, using foul language. No matter what the underlying reason is, is this the example we want children to absorb?

👉 Children don't always question what they see; they absorb and imitate.

If they watch mentors being mocked or insulted with no accountability, that behavior gets normalized in their world.

Also, if the movie is marketed or celebrated as "for kids, we need to be even more careful. From dialogues like "Mummy Ka Boyfriend" to casual disrespect toward elders or authority figures, is this really what we want our children to laugh at, relate to, or pick up as normal?

Yes, cinema reflects reality. And yes, even coaches in real life may have clashes or imperfections. But the version we present on screen becomes "truth" for young minds.

Shouldn't we then be mindful of what they're presenting?

Cinema is powerful. Let's use it to show realism with responsibility and model respectful disagreement over crude conflict. Let's nurture not just smart minds, but sensitive and respectful hearts.

This is not to blame anyone, just a heartfelt review, from a parent and a mentor, who believes that what we entertain, we eventually normalize.

A Journey of Empathy and Awakening

This film will profoundly transform the way you see and treat individuals with challenges - it's an emotional journey that leaves a lasting impact on the heart and mind. Aamir Khan once again delivers a deeply sensitive and sincere performance, not just as an actor but as a visionary storyteller. His direction reflects rare empathy and purpose, making every scene meaningful.

The background score beautifully amplifies the emotions, subtly guiding you through moments of struggle, hope, and triumph without ever feeling forced. Combined with stunning cinematography that captures the innocence, isolation, and inner world of the characters, the film becomes a visual and emotional masterpiece.

It's not just a movie - it's a mirror, a message, and a movement. A must-watch for every heart that seeks meaning.

Not 100% kids safe

The movie not fully kids safe as there are some dirty talk with dual meaning. So plan accordingly if going with kids.

Its an okay okay movie for one time..

Tarre zameen par is far more realistic than this sitaare zameen par.

Amir khan looks very generous and kind to every other character as always like real, which is pretty well.

I won't be providing you any more spoiler just want to repeat the movie is not fully kids safe.

They should not have done such talk for kids movie.

Also, I think the message they are trying to provide from this movie can be done and present in more better way....
