I'm writing this as a German who wants to support German movies and series without Til Schweiger or Matthias Schweighöfer.
Cassandra is an above average series by international standards and a super good series by German standards which tells two stories: one of Cassandra in the 70s and one of a family moving into a new home after a tragic loss.
The quality of acting is mixed, especially the father of the family and the young girl cannot fully convince; their acting stays bland with no profile. The actresses of the mother and Cassandra however do a very good job. I wanna see more of them in the future please!
The set and the atmosphere were super good, every episode made me want to keep watching but the last 2 episodes in particular had too many moments I couldn't enjoy because it was too far from the logic set up the episodes before or because the characters suddenly started acting stupidly.
If you are okay with that, please give Cassandra a chance. It's also a nice series to learn German because of the clear pronounciation.

Overall the plot was fairly interesting and unpredictable, at least as much as this idea of out of control AI house can get. It's basically two sub plots that intersect, and the real plot is the Cassandra's back story.
My main issue was how much I had to suspend disbelief. The 70's vibe is cool but just don't make sense. I'm not sure why this couldn't take place further in the future. I also think the power of the AI was unrealistic in that the humans should have easily been able to overcome it. Basically most of the characters are just really dumb and you need to buy into that for it to work. Technology aside, you know the situation that is unfolding would never happen in real life and that inner voice is telling you that the whole time.

I think it important to push this generation and telling them they did something great here.
Of course not everything in this series is fantastic but after watching it, i though this is something good that opens new doors, rising the bar for quality of plots, depth and passion.
At the beginning i felt that the charakters are just actors trying to act as a family and trying really hard to show intimacy within a family. It came close to the german feeling of fremdscham.
But i did not want to judge too early or bash the german filmmaking because thats no helping anyone and its just too easy.
So i stopped focusing on the slightly negative things and enjoy the good things. First i was afraid it would be film/series about a robot getting out of control. But how the plot turned out was just surprising. At the end i thought that a lot of love and work went into that series. I think the acting could be better but....there are enough of good acting series/movie with bad plots and no soul for the project. The dystopic ideas of black mirror are well intergrated without being too much of a copy-paste. Producing a series that picks up the modern topics such as AI, mix it with a thriller and use the 70's setting created an unusal fun for me. I want to thank the whole crew for putting that much passion and thoughts into this project. I enjoyed watching that.

We thought this was brilliant. Yes you can pick holes in it if you want to but you can do that with everything and it's just really not necessary. It's a good storyline with plenty of detail, twists and the acting is good. The story really ties together the further you get and we found ourselves grippped on what was going to happen next, looking forward to another episode every night. We went in with low expectations because of the bad reviews and absolutely loved it. Theres not really much else to say but I'm writing to fill the word count... I don't want to add spoilers. Give it a go and I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed!

I was skeptical at first... Another AI robot vs the hose, family, husband... whatever.. Not a M3GAN, SUBSERVIENCE or T1M.. Not quite on a Black Mirror level, but more Jetsons meets The Hand That Rocks the Cradle... meets Frankenstein..
I like the 70's appeal, decor and style, at first it didn't make sense, based in a iPhone era time.. but it comes together well.. kind of keeps you guessing.
But it actually has an engaging storyline... And the acting is good.. Dubbed sound and speech is good.. Definitely worth a multi-day binge.. but the episodes run together smooth and easy to keep the next one playing..

The show starts out quite tropey and leads one to believe it'll be like many of the other AI film/show flops. Initially it felt like it could have been a movie instead of a limited series but the plot does diverge from the usual "AI turns evil due to a technology issue". Since there's more of a backstory to how this "technology" came to be, it makes the overall show much more watchable and adds the missing human element that many others fail to deliver. The plot holes are tired tropes are still there but there's enough meat on the bone to keep you interested to see how it ends. Recall the Black Mirror episode "Black Museum" as the basis for whether or not you think you'll like the show. Black Mirror was still better but you get an idea of what this is gonna be.
It's not a show I'll be telling everyone about, but it's a fine show to watch when you can't find anything else.

The core idea is very intriguing. I don't know how they managed to ruin it so much-well, actually, I do: they inserted too many themes (ranging from social issues to drama) and failed to develop any of them properly. The psychology of the characters and the dialogues are weak and unrealistic; they should have focused on fewer elements and worked on executing them well. Even the main theme of the series feels watered down and underdeveloped. It had the potential to be profound but instead became yet another empty and predictable plot (you can guess exactly how the series will unfold just by watching the first episode).
On the positive side, the audiovisual aspects are well done and immersive (even with the English dubbing). This could have been a great series if not for the unnecessary additions and the shortcomings of the plot.

I saw the original version in German and I liked it very much in acting perspective. I always prefer to watch in original language because it catches correctly the full experience of the movies. I read some comments about the husband not believing his wife through all the series, until something more dramatic happens... But that only sounded strange or odd until we know that her sister had mental disease and committed suicide. It wouldn't be hard to believe that she was suffering from post traumatic problems after her sister committed suicide or worse: she could be also having some kind of mental disease. So I think that without telling much more, the story is not that bad. The whole story is fantasy so we should not complain that even now would not be possible to produce a Cassandra. After all I enjoyed and only hopped it had a closure , a proper ending .
I find the storytelling smart, two timelines, one being the origin and one being the present. Even though usually AI robots turning evil is predictable and whatever, but I find the backstory and motivation of this particular one unique. It's not exactly as predicted and even the last episode reveals information that were forgotten/unexpected, and that deserved a written review from me.
I find this tv series underrated. I saw the trailer on instagram and thought nothing big of it, but as I let it play beside cooking, I learned to appreciate the details in the story and found it intrieguing.
Definitely worth a watch, as it is not even long. It's different from other AI robotic thrillers.

Cassandra is one of those rare shows that completely defied my expectations. While AI plays a role in the narrative, the series is ultimately about so much more-human nature, family bonds and dynamics. At its core, it's about two women who seem so different yet, in the end, may not be so different after all.
The first two episodes take their time, carefully building the world and its characters, but once the foundations are set, the show takes off at full speed. What starts as a slow burn quickly transforms into an intense, gripping experience, packed with unexpected twists and turns that keep you on edge. Just when you think you have a grasp on where things are headed, the story takes another unpredictable turn.
Beyond its storytelling, Cassandra is a visual and auditory treat. The cinematography is stunning, the production design is meticulous and immersive, and the score ties everything together beautifully, adding layers of tension, depth, and emotion.

It's a decent show that is somewhat easy to understand but kind of hard to follow. The pacing is a bit slow, it feels a bit too long overall, and some of the characters feel pointless.
There's a decent amount of suspense sprinkled through the series and it largely doesn't make sense unless you grant it extra suspension of disbelief.
Mainly it's just a group of insane and incompetent people put together so bad things happen. Most of the people aren't relatable and often say or do things that normal person wouldn't.
There seems to be a message of the show but the criticism and execution is misplaced. They identified an issue and artificially curated an extreme scenario to fit their narrative and I believe that is where the disconnect stems from.
Overall I think it's an interesting show if you have nothing else to watch but it isn't a must see or anything.

The premise had potential. The design of the robot was interesting to look at. The writing was terrible: again, yet another show where people don't do anything normal people would do, make the most terrible choices at nearly every turn, don't say the things normal people would say. There were a few times where it seemed the writing got better, maybe that episode was written by different people, then everything went downhill yet again, then right off a cliff into absurdity. It's one of those shows where we sent most our time yelling at the screen, "Oh my god, why would anyone do that??!!" "That's so stupid, what an idiot!! Over and over. By the last episode we were begging for it to end. Please end.
Exciting, refreshing new story telling. Very surprising twists and unexpected plots. Loved the integrated humor ( mostly from David ), and I did not see the twists coming - thank you great writers and producers. This show had me at the edge of my seat until the last minute, therefore I watched it all in one wash yesterday. The person who wrote 'Nope.. review' - German is obviously not your mother tongue, else you would know that proper German speakers all converse exactly like that. As an Afro German I loved loved loved the mixed family - we are in 2025 and therefore very realistic. You even thought of details like the bonet Mary Tölle is wearing while sleeping - who ever thought of that in a German production - Chapot! Cassandra. Loved the screen, the small details of facial and brow movement. If you are passed 40 you know the crew got that old TV screen perfectly right. Lavinia Wilson played great! Don't forget her acting was very limited on the small screen, but she killed it in the '70ies parts. More from this production and writers team please!! As a Netflix / Series addict - you made my day.

I would even rate this a little higher than 7 but it's not allowed.
Cassandra is a quite original idea and execution. First and foremost. There is drama and excitement. The viewer can feel both sympathy and hate for the robot and I think her backstory was well portrayed, giving us a good idea on her motives. There are also various moments of agony where you are invested in how well this is going to end up for the family. Gore is not spared, this adds a lot of reality and psychological tention.
The writers did a good job of putting the script together, there are no plot holes left open and although you can go cherry picking on certain moments that are questionable, overall the script is tight and keeps the play together the way it was intended to be.
The performances will not win any Oscars but are solid enough to be believable and get the movie going. Obviously the better and most standout performance is Cassandra's, I guess they tried to nail this role as much as possible.
The series is not too long to lose focus, it is limited but this will keep it memorable. A standout entry in the sci fi world.

Cassandra has a visually appealing retro setting and is well-executed from a cinematographic perspective. The production design and atmosphere are certainly highlights.
Unfortunately, the series is dragged down by exhausting and unrealistic dialogue. The acting is also quite poor, with the all-too-familiar overacting that many German actors tend to deliver. As a German myself, I found it difficult to watch at times.
The way the story unfolds feels forced and unnatural. The fact that no one believes the mother and instead sympathizes with the house AI to an almost absurd extent is simply unrealistic. The plot, dialogues, and many sequences feel artificial and detached from reality, making it hard to stay engaged.
A missed opportunity, given the strong visual potential.

Throw in a little bit of everything into a German goulash. Fear of AI, diversity, some violence and gore. The crazy Cassandra is reasonably well explained by the end, overall the story has a good six episode arc. Some good song choices, but not all, oh no not all. Adult actors fine. Heterosexual men are not depicted very well. Modern husband David is an easily manipulated idiot. '70s Husband Horst is the biggest douche of a mad scientist. Soccer teens are bullies. Do they really need to push the gay teen narrative? Some good laughs along the way, as an aside maybe good to have a fail safe way to escape a smart house and not have every door and window remotely controlled by AI.
This tv show cought me when it was first announced and when I watch it was the frightening experience that I expected but can do better. Episode 3 had a big twist that completely cought me off gourd and had to watch it till the end. All I am saying is they could've had a better last 2 episodes. Those 2 episodes were just confusing and, for me, not the biggest twist as they wanted it to be. This is a great series for a sleep over, like first time to watch. This is also a good show to watch in like a dark cold night. This is not that scary, we just are paranoid when Cassandra is gonna get the family. Like the family has already their own problems and Cassandra just makes it worse. This is a good series but can do better for those last 2 episodes.
