Vanvas is a simple and wonderful story, with Nana Patekar in the best role of his life, and Utkarsh too has won everyone's heart. Jeetendra Sahani Jeet
Jeet: It is said that parents bear all their troubles and sacrifice their comforts and give everything to their children but when these children grow up, they consider their parents a burden and leave them like orphans in old age homes or somewhere else, something similar is the film Vanvas produced and directed by Anil Sharma. This film will definitely remind you of old films like Amrit, Swarg starring Rajesh Khanna and Baghban starring Amitabh Bachchan. The film is very good. In some parts, Anil Sharma suggests that he could have made a more thoughtful film and imagined a world of grey instead of just black and white. In this case, separated parents Deepak Tyagi Nana Patekar who is losing his memory, but the only positive thought of his (Nana Patekar) children was that he also loves them very much. In the greed of more money, the son and daughter leave him on the ghat of Varanasi and return to their home and perform his shraddha karma and that too for just a few rupees. The writer of the film Sunil Srivaiya has left no stone unturned to make this film better, every part has been presented very well. The first part of the film is a bit slow before the intermission but after the intermission its success is commendable. Uttarkarsh's Banarasi character is quite interesting,Uttarkarsh also has some weak parts, who will definitely improve his art in the future and he has also done a great job in terms of acting. The work of all the other actors is also very commendable. You must watch this film once with your whole family, especially the youth.

As a fan of Nana Patekar and Rajpal Yadav, I was drawn to Vanvaas for their performances, and they didn't disappoint.
Nana Patekar delivers a powerhouse performance as Deepak Tyagi, a dementia-stricken father abandoned by his family.
His raw emotion, especially in the heart-wrenching climax, is the film's biggest strength and worth watching alone.
Rajpal Yadav adds a touch of humor with his witty dialogues, providing much-needed relief in this heavy drama.
However, Vanvaas struggles to live up to its potential. The screenplay feels overly melodramatic and predictable, leaning heavily on dated Bollywood tropes that remind you of Baghban but without its polish or emotional depth.
The film tackles the important issue of elderly neglect, which resonates, but the one-dimensional portrayal of Deepak's sons and daughters-in-law as cartoonish villains lacks nuance.
Supporting actors like Simrat Kaur and Ashwini Kalsekar are underutilized, with roles that feel underdeveloped or overly theatrical.
Technically, the film falters too. The background score is excessively loud, clashing with the emotional tone, and the outdated cinematography and poor dubbing detract from the experience. Mithoon's songs are forgettable, failing to leave a mark.
At over 2 hours and 40 minutes, the runtime feels bloated, and tighter editing could have made it more impactful.
For fans of Nana Patekar and traditional Bollywood family dramas, Vanvaas offers enough emotional moments to keep you engaged, but its flaws - predictability, melodrama, and technical shortcomings hold it back.
I wouldn't have watched it without my admiration for Patekar and Yadav, and their performances make it worth a one-time watch .

Vanvaas is an emotional drama that shines a spotlight on the neglect of elderly parents in today's fast-paced world. Nana Patekar sir delivers a heartfelt performance as a father abandoned by his children, highlighting the consequences of such apathy. The film emphasizes the importance of gratitude, respect, and care for one's parents, who sacrifice everything for their children. While the narrative feels dated and the pacing uneven, its core message resonates deeply: society must recognize the irreplaceable value of parents and ensure they are treated with dignity and love in their later years.

Vanvaas (2024) :
Movie Review -
Anil Sharma has created another fatherhood saga after Gadar 2, and this one is much better. The Gadar 2 team relied on the legacy of its predecessor, while Vanvaas is a low-budget, non-action drama, hence free from that baggage. However, that doesn't mean it's exceptionally good or completely flawless. It has its own flaws and lows, but the biggest issue with the film is its predictability, amplified by its celebration of being a mashup of multiple dramas that I prefer not to name. Despite this, the film remains watchable due to its emotional appeal and unexpectedly logical climax. The last 15 minutes are filled with unpredictable moments, including the final two frames that truly haunt you for a moment or two. It's the kind of "we didn't see it coming" scenario, while the rest of the film is "everything we have seen before. Skip."
The story revolves around an elderly man, Deepak Tyagi (Nana Patekar), who suffers from dementia. His sons and daughters-in-law are not pleased with his presence at home, so they abandon him in Banaras and declare him dead. As Tyagi has memory issues, he cannot recall what has just happened to him and begins to live in the past for a while. He looks for his sons (when they were children) and encounters a small-time crook, Veeru (Utkarsh Sharma). Veeru robs him and abandons him, but eventually has to take him home after police orders. Following a heated argument, Veeru and Deepak begin to have a friendly conversation. Together, along with Veeru's friends, girlfriend, and girlfriend's aunt, they embark on a mission to find Tyagi's home.
The writers have undoubtedly included plagiarized material, but it hardly matters in this genre. This theme is very old-so old that it dates back to the 1930s (Make Way for Tomorrow)-so you can't really escape that cliché and original source material. It's all about what else you can offer alongside that same story. Vanvaas lacks standout moments since everything seems copied from various sources, but as I mentioned, the last 10-15 minutes provide a soothing surprise. The screenplay is overly long for this small story, featuring some dated segments, cheap comedy, romance and unwanted conversations that may bore you enough to leave your seat.
Nana Patekar has already done Pak Pak Pakak, so many will easily link this character of Deepak Tyagi to Bhootya. His intellectual speeches seem like Ditto from PPP. Nana has also worked in a masterpiece like Natsamrat, which is based on a similar theme (the screen differs), so there is a lack of originality there as well. Yet, Nana performs well, if not great. Utkarsh Sharma's character initially felt off track with his senseless humor and overly aggressive nature, but as time passed, he regained his senses. He has shown improvement since Gadar 2, for sure. Simrat Kaur does the same, although I would like to see her in some different roles. Ashwini Kalsekar also needs a break from such roles now, whereas Rajpal Yadav wasn't really explored to his full potential. The rest of the supporting cast doesn't help much either.
Coming to technical aspects, I don't think Vanvaas needed strong support here, so it's acceptable to have mediocre results. The cinematography, sound design, background score, art design, and editing are strictly average, but that's fine since it wasn't a big-budget lavish film. The music should have been better, though. Such emotional films need strong musical support, and this film lacks that. Anil Sharma has done better than Gadar 2 if we consider the father-son story, but Vanvaas deserved a better vision. You know, these kinds of dramas have always had low audience appeal because people don't usually want to watch this kind of content with their families. Someone once told me that it affects children's and parents' relationships. Vanvaas should have been more realistic and cinematically powerful to reach its highest potential, but instead, it limits itself to a bubble that was created decades ago. The film falls short on new ideas and modern setups. It could have been much better than this-that's a fact, but it is equally true that the film leaves you with tears in your eyes. In memory of all those parents who gave their everything to their children and all those children who just didn't care or realize what they were missing. In their pursuit of money, they lost the biggest treasure of their lives.

Movie Review: 'Vanvas'
'Vanvas' is a deeply emotional film that beautifully portrays the challenges of aging parents and the neglect they often face from their children. Nana Patekar delivers a heart-wrenching performance as a father who, after losing his wife, is left to fend for himself. Despite raising his three sons with love and sacrifices, they fail to understand his needs when he grows old and develops a memory loss condition.
The movie highlights the painful truth that just as children are weak and dependent on their parents, elderly parents also require care and love in their later years. However, the children, consumed by their own lives, forget the sacrifices their parents made for them.
The story takes a moving turn when an outsider, a man who isn't biologically related to Nana Patekar's character, steps in. This man, who was once an orphan himself, showers the father with unconditional love and care-something even his own children fail to do. The bond between the two grows stronger, transcending blood ties, and reflects the true meaning of love and compassion.
'Vanvas' is not just a film; it's a poignant reminder of the importance of family, respect, and empathy. It compels us to question how we treat those who once gave us everything. A must-watch for its powerful performances and a message that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Vanvaas (2024) Review - A Missed Opportunity
Rating: 5/10
"Vanvaas" had the potential to be a gripping emotional drama, but unfortunately, it overstays its welcome. The film is unnecessarily long, stretching well beyond what is needed to tell its story. If the editor had done a better job, this movie could have been a tight, impactful 90-minute experience instead of the drawn-out slog it became.
The only saving grace here is Nana Patekar. His performance is powerful, heartfelt, and keeps you invested. However, everything else around him feels like filler. The supporting characters, subplots, and moralizing dialogues add little value and could have been trimmed significantly. The excessive runtime only dilutes the emotional weight of the film rather than enhancing it.
Overall, Vanvaas is a classic case of a film that doesn't know when to stop. If you're a fan of Nana Patekar, it might be worth a watch, but be prepared for a test of patience.

I usually do not write a review on a movie.
But this one do deserve it. Nana sir's acting I can not judge. He always show something new and try to feed everytime a new version of himself.
For this movie I can't compair nana patekar's with Natsamrat.
This movie is good to watch with family. It shows how you should respect your mother/father after a certain age. I do feel this was the grounded movie no extra thing just if you leave the love story of a side actors.
The cost was good, they give their 100% to their roles.
I felt myself somewhere in that movie. I do love my parents and still it hit me somewhere. Maybe just staying with them is not enough how do we treat that too matter.

It wouldn't be wrong to call this Anil Sharma's Baghban made for his son, where the kids are even more evil.
The film tells the story of an old man with dementia whose three sons abandon him at the Banaras ghats, leaving him to his fate. Due to circumstances, an orphan thief takes it upon himself to reunite the old man with his children.
The movie attempts to showcase how parents become a burden for their kids once they grow old. However, here, the children are made excessively evil for no real reason. There's no backstory, and their motives are weak, which is the film's biggest letdown. As a result, you neither feel bad for the father nor truly hate his sons. The whole subplot of the thief whose character is shown to be cunning but yet going out of his way to help also makes no sense.
Nana Patekar's return to the screen after a long time is a treat, but he falls short in emotional scenes. Utkarsh Sharma's Banarasi accent is decent, but he has a long way to go in terms of acting skills. Except for Paritosh Tripathi, who plays one of the sons, the other sons and their wives seem like they're part of a school play. Simrat Kaur, as the leading lady, struggles, and her chemistry with Utkarsh is nonexistent. Rajpal Yadav's casting as his friend feels odd, while Ashwini Kalsekar does what she always does.
The songs are bad, and you'll find yourself skipping them. The logic and coherence between scenes are all over the place. A film like this should thrive on emotions, but with such poor writing, you feel nothing-except irritation. On the bright side, Banaras is beautifully captured on screen. The climax, however, is as over-the-top as it gets, making you laugh at an emotional scene due to its sheer absurdity.
No points for guessing-this one should be avoided.

Unrealistic and nonsense story . Producer think audience fool. Bad cast except Nana patekar. Third class music and songs. Producer should have cast better actor and actress.actress is below average in looks and action.male actor performance except Nana is average. Story line has no sense, film bores most of the time except in the end. Nowadays producer think audience has no mind and they can put any rubbish in the name of a movie.to view such movies one has to be idiot first and leave his brain at home. Wasted money for such a non entertainer. Director and producer is not a class but just a pass time.

'Vanvas' is a deeply emotional and thought-provoking masterpiece, beautifully directed by Anil Sharma. Nana Patekar delivers a powerful and heart-wrenching performance as a father navigating the neglect and loneliness faced by aging parents. The film, a modern take on 'Baghban,' sheds light on the sacrifices parents make for their children, only to be forgotten in their later years. The story takes a poignant turn when an orphan, unrelated by blood, steps in to provide unconditional love and care, showcasing the true meaning of family and compassion. With a gripping narrative, impactful performances, and a heartfelt message, 'Vanvas' is more than just a movie-it's a lesson in empathy, respect, and the importance of family bonds. This film is a must-watch for its ability to stir emotions, inspire societal change, and leave viewers with tears and a renewed perspective on life and relationships.

Vanvaas attempts to be a modern-day Baghban, and while it's drenched in over-the-top sentiment and one-dimensional morality, there's no denying its emotional pull. Nana Patekar shines in a deeply affecting role as Deepak Tyagi, a father battling dementia and abandonment by his children. His portrayal, filled with quiet grief and misplaced hope, anchors the film even when everything else around him falters.
Directed by Anil Sharma, the film explores the age-old theme of neglected parents, but with a preachy tone that often sacrifices nuance for sermon. The story is predictable, melodramatic, and often drags, with clunky dialogue and one-note villains. Still, for all its flaws, Vanvaas has moments that genuinely move you particularly the final 15 minutes, which are surprisingly poignant.
Utkarsh Sharma, as the Banarasi small-time thief Veeru, brings occasional charm but lacks consistency. Rajpal Yadav provides much-needed levity, though his talent feels underused. The supporting cast, sadly, leans too theatrical or flat, and the technical aspects from the loud background score to dated cinematography don't help.
Is Vanvaas original? Not really. Is it subtle? Not at all. But it carries a beating heart, and for some, especially those who've grown up with Bollywood's emotional family sagas, that might be enough.
Watch it with your parents, or at least think of them. Just don't expect cinematic brilliance.

I don't understand why peeps always select massy masala films instead of movies like vanvaas? Its second day and I found out this film is not doing well but why? Its have everything good actors, actress and story and most important the message and emotional impact, from story to acting everything was great, I am not saying that its a pitch perfect film but its very well made movie which is unforgettable.
Utaraksh the main lead acts 1000 times better than Varun, arjun and other nepo kid, I really like his acting, character and look.
Simrat looks beautiful and act very good. Wish to see more both of them in more movies.
Nana does superb, Rajpal rocks and all others actors played their part well, so guys go for it don't make this movie flop.

I think its the best movie of all time among nana patekar's brilliant movies, this movie is must watch masterpiece, I don't know why isn't it performed on box office, but I'm surely saying its a much much better movie than Pushpa nd ol , emotion , acting is unmatchable, just loved it, I'm again saying watch this movie , don't miss it. May be its release time is not the best one , this movie should be released the other time than pushpa baby john movies , Vanvaas is noble award deserving movie. It really shows what childrens mean to parents. Its shows what future we are making to ourselves and how western culture is dissolving in our blood like cancer.

Uttarkarsh's Banarasi character is quite interesting,Uttarkarsh also has some weak parts, who will definitely improve his art in the future and he has also done a great job in terms of acting. The work of all the other actors is also very commendable. You must watch this film once with your whole family, especially the youth.
