(2023) El Vacío/ The Emptiness

PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA
Produced, written and directed by Gustavo Graef Marino that showcases a man (Francisco Reyes) jumping off a building. Except that what viewers see may not be what it appears to be as viewers get to witness when the mother, (Javiera Díaz de Valdés) and her 13 year old daughter, (Emilia Noguera) move into (Francisco Reyes) penthouse to which he introduces them to his teenage son who is just about leaving home to further his studies. (Reyes) only son appears to be the only person, the mother's daughter got along with the most. It also looks like it takes place during the Covid pandemic since there were scenes of them wearing masks while they were riding or driving; we also see the mother's daughter doing her studies on-line.
This movie is not bad, but the mother's life is a little vague, for although we know what the husband did for a living which is to be involve in the film business whether it'd be writing or directing, the mother inherited income from her mother's estate, for on one hand I thought she had intentions of selling, but then down the line that was not the case at all. I also thought the mother's daughter is too bratty and one note. She was way too annoying and I almost gave this movie a thumbs down, but as it turned out she was not the biggest factor that drove a wedge between the couple apart.
