Mr. Right

In the interest of full disclosure, I have family that were involved in making this movie (not the actors).

I've seen it from early production cuts to the final product. My wife and I have watched it several times as the final version, and we've enjoyed it the last time as much or more than the first.

It's a simple relationship story that you pretty much know where it is going from the start (as you always do with this type of movie), but the characters and dialog are so authentic, it's like watching real people in a slice of their life. Fun to watch, with a few funny adventures along the way. Clean and suitable for the whole family.

Compared to many other movies in this similar genre (Hallmark-type) we finished the movie talking about what we liked, not what we didn't (annoying characters, stupid decisions, poor dialog).

If you are looking for a simple, fun movie with authentic characters that feel real, give this one a shot. I don't think you'll regret it.

A dating coach and past university student in the study of marriage, family and relationships it's been many years discovering myself this Art of Love. Uniquely, and surprisingly I came to recognize while watching this movie that this story is a captured and hidden gem. I've watch hundreds, yep, hundreds of rom com, hallmark, lifetime whatever movies you want to call them that fall into the familiar genre of drama and romance. And uniquely, although this very movie wasn't hugely emotionally moving, I thought this movie was truthfully revealing. My favorite aspect of the truth of it all was that the script was soft on the ears and key on the relationship tips. One tip, and maybe a good learning, is that there might just be no Mr. Right, but what I believe even more, are many Mr. Almost Rights & and many Ms. Almost Rights. In a world where we are filled in our minds to look for the right "Only One" or the "Mr. Right" it all seems to be what gets all twisted in our heads, whether a man or a woman pursuing in life to find the right person for them. What I'm saying is it's 2am, and I'm sitting on my couch, I'm in myself the Film industry an actress also and a regular everyday gal looking for a special guy. And you know, this movie is what it's all about, it's Mr. Almost Right & Ms. Almost Right, because honesty I think there is no Mr. Or Ms. Right, there's just a good gal and good guy who one day will be "Mr. Almost Right" andAlmost Ms. Right" and I hope I find him too. Huge kuddos and Thanks to the screen writer etc., Chamber Media, all set, cast, crew and all others who played a part in creating this movie and stories. I have never written a long review for a movie, but this one I felt was a home run watch.

Again, it's not that this movie was a perfectly, shiny and polished film, but more importantly, I really believe this movie created ultimately for all of us "a real" and "truthful" place we should be; which is our "real world" and where we should absolutely remain more often :) This made my night and change my perceptions.

I enjoyed this movie mostly. My biggest problem was that I read a romance a few years ago with the exact same plot. I looked at who wrote it on Amazon and it didn't show the book I read with that authors name. I realize screenplay authors can be different but it just said written by on the movie credits. So I'm confused. I, of course, can't remember the name of the book I read.

The characters were very likable although I spent half the time I watched wishing the guy would get his hair cut and styled. It was really bad and took away part of my enjoyment of the movie.

I know I'm being pretty critical. I know it was probably a low budget movie that didn't care about how the guy's hair looked. But it's something that should have been fixed. Other than that, it was a sweet movie and I still gave it 6 stars even with my criticisms.

I haven't finished watching this yet....

So far, I didn't like how the lead female character was made up, and looking like a particular Hallmark actress (who looks unusual). The guy's look was also over the top. I found these aspects distracting from the movie.

I enjoyed the story premise but it got too serious for my taste. I was wanting to watch something light, not get into the drama category.

Some dialogue by the lead actress contained improper grammar:calling someone a "they/their". The first time could've been to not reveal identity, but after the next few times, it was clearly a misuse of the word (another distraction).

The script had depth even though it's a pretty common theme.

I don't know if I'll watch the end because the way the character was acting towards the guy was irritating. I appreciated how they had her show concern for integrity in her work. The friend was a good actress and character to include.

So Mr. Right is a small budget "slice of life" indie type of movie.

There is no violence, death or drama. We just watch a relationship unfold despite some childhood trauma that has to be overcome first it seems.

In stark contrast we also witness the typical pitfalls of online and other types of casual dating.

Some of the worst disasters happen off screen and we just see the effects yet even those are not as exaggerated as in big screen Hollywood movies.

There is no over the top gay friend like in your usual romcom. There is a supportive coworker and best friend though.

These people feel authentic and even what they talk about does not sound scripted. It's not improvised either.

I was pleasantly surprised. I somehow expected something low level. True, it is a bit slow and there is no passionate love affair.

It's just an evolving relationship. More than enough for me in these frantic speed dating times.
