Too emotionally charged that you feel let emotional

From the trailer to the poster, this movie screams tragedy, and you need to be in the right mindset to venture into watching it.

The story follows a middle-class man who goes to great lengths to save his wife, who is on life support in the hospital. His relentless struggle to gather money from all possible sources to pay for the hospital bills forms the crux of the story.

This narrative reflects the real-life experiences of millions of people across the nation, allowing it to instantly connect with the audience. It serves as a mirror to society. However, despite the emotionally charged plot and struggles, the film becomes overdone in places, diminishing its impact. The screenplay falters because the emotions are not well-paced; when the same intensity persists from the first frame to the last, viewers may feel emotionally drained rather than devastated. To evoke genuine emotion, a film must pace itself, as constant sadness can wear out the audience.

Anupam Kher delivers a performance of a lifetime, once again proving that he is a top-notch, versatile actor who can seamlessly portray any character. Ranvir Shorey, in just a few scenes, manages to make his presence felt, adding strength to the film. Annu Kapoor, in a smaller role, provides strong support. Mahima Chaudhry shines in her cameo, and it was a delight to see her on screen after a long time. She definitely deserves more roles.

The background music enhances the film's mood, and the poetry used hits deep. Director Gajendra Ahire skillfully uses silence and calmness to communicate deeper nuances, which works in the film's favor.

Be sure to have a box of tissues handy, given the emotional weight of the subject matter. While it may not be a 10/10 film, it tackles a topic that will resonate with viewers. For its performances, subject matter, and sincerity, it certainly deserves your time.

A movie you hope no one goes through in real life.

When a movie reflects life in a way that makes you retrospect life in general, then one can confidently say that the movie was a must watch.

The story narrates a family's tale where they struggle with the decision of signing the DNR form for the mother. But the twist here is that, only the father, played my Mr. Anupam Kher, is willing to go above and beyond in hopes of saving her.

Mr. Kher's performance shoulders the entire movie with several emotional scenes, where needless to say, he proved his acting competence once again.

Mr. Ranvir Shorey's cameo was an another twist in the story that feels more impactful than a few other more seemingly impactful scenes.

It was nice to see Mahima Chaudhary on the big screen after all these years. I loved the soundtrack, the movie has only one song. But the placement of the same could have been better.

Manoj joshi, Annu Kapoor, and Neena Kulkarni were also good in the film. Overall, the movie serves as a family film (giving the baghban effect, if seen with parents).

Saaransh couldn't be repeated

Anwar Says: Signing the DNR( Do not Resuscitate) for the spouse on death bed is not only rattling but tough as well. But National Award Winning director Gajendra Ahire's Hindi debut is definitely not at par with the debut film of Anupam Kher Saraansh of the same genre.

The pace of the movie is too slow. The emotional outbreaks and fragility of old age fights with love and belongings of companion and quest for money travel from property selling, begging from daughter, crowd funding and pre-payment of life insurance policy. In between the tortures of Corporate Hospitals and their doctors are also told. Ranveer Shourey cameo as a sufferer was quite disturbing. Found Mahima Chaudhary in Hindi cinema after a long time and she is good in her role. Anu Kapur is as usual brilliant.

Anupam Kher is visible in almost every frame but except at 2-3 places, is hardly able to put his impeccable impact. Watch only if you are Mr. Kher's fan.

It's all about acting

This is a common sadness but only solved to some extent by financial means to address it. It well depicted by good acting although there is no great story. The movie runs a slow course and is almost predictable. Some characters are not needed in the movie. This is a common sadness but only solved to some extent by financial means to address it. the life events - rarest ones.

This movie shows so deep meaning of life when one becomes old. It shows why insurance and money is required at the end of age/life. This movie hitting on heart straight and giving every heartache one can has.. A must watch. Life is all about living and caring about your parents and children. But in the end - the matters most is money you have in your account. That is the only reason remains why one asks you in life and takes care of you. You dont have money, insurance.or property - no one gonna ask you for. Never give your property to anyone until you die. That matters alot in life. Ranveer Shorey's small role is full of life.

A commendable central performance in a good movie

In The Signature, Anupam Kher plays a retired elderly husband and father who surprises his wife by taking her on her dream international trip but their plans go array when she collapses at the airport and falls into a coma. The movie follows Kher's elderly husband Arvind as he bleeds money and hope that his wife will awaken from her deep sleep and enjoy the rest of her days with him. As the money and hope both start to dry up, his friends, family and doctors all recommend that he provide his signature to take her off life support which would mean the end for his soul mate.

The highlight of the movie is Anupam Kher's performance as he channels the same melancholy and helplessness from his iconic performance from 4 decades ago and still delivers the same level of emotions and evokes very similar visceral reactions from this performance. Where the movie falters a bit is in the direction of its content and performances. Multiple National Award winner Gajendra Ahire ticks all the right boxes to elevate the movie but he isnt able to do what Mahesh Bhatt did with Anupam Kher, Rohini Hattangadi and Soni Razdan all those years ago.

The movie is naturally slow but there is a feel of rushed and sub-par performances by the usually solid Annu Kapoor and Ranvir Shorey and the charismatic Mahima Chaudhary. Ranvir Shorey appears a couple of times in a slightly connected storyline that could have served as a good sub-plot for the movie. His scenes are emotional and his acting is very noteworthy but somewhat disconnected from the main movie. It is as if he is delivering this great performance for another movie in the background. If feels like Annu Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey and Mahima Chaudhary could only give the director a few days of shooting time and they rushed through some scenes which were stitched into the story, resulting in a lower impact from their presence in the movie.

The ending of the movie is well written but not executed at the same level. A final scene which could have easily made a frog cause havoc in our throat ended up becoming a light Oh!!!! And hence misses delivering that knock out punch. Kher is the heart and soul of the movie and I wish it was better executed. It is still a nice emotional drama with a very good central performance. 6/10 for the movie and a 8/10 for Anupam Kher's performance.

Saaransh for your better half! What a masterpiece!

What a movie! Reality is hard to digest. Movies like these show the reality of life, and the ups and down in life .What a performance by our versatile actor Anupam sir. It reminds me of Saaransh but we can't compare as both have different significance. Saaransh is about a fight for a son whereas Signature is about the fight for your better half. Again great acting, great performance, great direction, great storyline. This is what is good cinema where actors like Anupam Kher create magic with their sheer talent .Ranveer sir's role is short but impactful. Mahima Chaudhary's acting is awesome and Annu kapoor is always the best .

Excellent Movie - a Slap on our Political System

What Movie depicts is not just emotions but reality check. It has got multiple take aways, which we all are aware about:
  • Middle class, that suffers pain due to lack of resources
  • Helpless children, that take all blames for no wrong

Not the least, reason for all this is
  • Government, that sucks despite our taxes
  • Shameful politicians, uncontrolled corruption
  • Hospitals, that loots.

This is an apathy that must be used to expose the hospitals, current medical system and on top the corrupt and shameful politicians that loot thousands of crores but then, society suffers just for few millions in lack of rightful resources.

Tyranny against such corrupt democracy is the need for today.

A Heartfelt Story with Missed Opportunities

The Signature starring Anupam Kher is a heart-touching film with a common yet relatable storyline. It portrays the struggles of a middle-class man who finds himself burdened by the mounting hospital bills for his ailing wife. The story delivers an emotional and realistic look at the financial challenges faced by many, especially when resources are scarce. It highlights themes of helplessness, the frustration of borrowing, and the apathy of a broken system.

However, despite the strong narrative, the film suffers in terms of execution. The editing is not up to the mark, and the dialogue delivery feels off at times. The actors' voices, in particular, feel inconsistent-either too loud or too flat-making it seem like a low-budget production. Annu Kapoor, a seasoned actor, also seemed out of place in this role, as though he was forced into it, which took away from the overall impact of his character.

The film's pacing is another issue. It feels slow, and the songs, especially the old-fashioned ghazals, don't help. They felt forced and out of sync with the movie's tone, which would have been better off without them.

While The Signature has its flaws, I can still recommend it for its emotional core and relatable struggles. The movie may not be a blockbuster, but it speaks to the everyday man's challenges in a society where medical costs can be crippling. Just don't go in expecting slick editing or modern sound design.

This is called script, acting, everything. One of the best movies of the year. What an acting, Anupam Kher!"

Anupam Kher's The Signature is a masterclass in storytelling, delivering a deeply emotional and inspiring experience. Directed by Gajendra Ahire, the movie revolves around the theme of personal resilience, courage, and the indomitable human spirit. The Signature is a heart-touching narrative that focuses on the struggles of a middle-class man, played by Anupam Kher, who is forced to rebuild his life after an unexpected tragedy strikes.

The script of The Signature stands out as one of the strongest aspects of the film. Gajendra Ahire weaves an intricate story filled with realism, human emotions, and hope. The writing is sharp, sensitive, and deeply moving, resonating with audiences from all walks of life. The dialogues capture the essence of middle-class struggles and aspirations, making the movie relatable. The pacing is steady, giving the characters enough space to breathe and the audience time to connect with them emotionally.

The narrative doesn't rely on excessive melodrama; rather, it presents raw emotions in a grounded, believable manner. Each scene adds depth to the characters and takes the plot forward in a meaningful way. It's a script that tugs at your heartstrings without being over-the-top, allowing viewers to reflect on their own lives and struggles.

Anupam Kher delivers one of his finest performances in recent years. Known for his versatility, Kher outdoes himself in The Signature, portraying the character of a man who loses everything but refuses to give up. His portrayal is layered, capturing the vulnerability, strength, and resilience of a person going through a life-changing crisis. Kher brings a quiet dignity to his role, balancing despair with determination, making the audience root for him throughout.

His ability to convey deep emotions with subtle expressions is remarkable. You can feel his pain, anguish, and hope without him needing to say much. Every scene with Kher is a testament to his decades of experience and his ability to get into the skin of a character, making it feel real and relatable.

The supporting cast, including Mahima Chaudhary, also adds to the film's emotional depth. Chaudhary's return to the screen is graceful, and her chemistry with Kher enhances the film's emotional gravity. The rest of the ensemble cast does justice to their roles, providing a balanced support to Kher's powerful central performance.

Gajendra Ahire's direction is commendable, bringing the best out of his actors while maintaining a steady grip on the storytelling. He avoids unnecessary dramatization and keeps the tone realistic and grounded. The cinematography is subtle but effective, beautifully capturing the essence of everyday life, adding a layer of intimacy to the narrative.

The use of light and shadows in certain scenes reflects the emotional states of the characters, especially in Kher's moments of introspection. The close-up shots bring the audience closer to the characters' inner turmoil, creating a deep emotional connection.

The background score in The Signature is minimalistic but impactful. It complements the film's emotional tone without overwhelming the scenes. The music blends seamlessly into the narrative, enhancing the overall viewing experience without distracting from the story. The soulful melodies underscore the key moments in the film, amplifying the emotional impact.

At its core, The Signature is a film about hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. It explores themes of loss, resilience, and the human capacity to rebuild from the ashes. The movie's message is universal and powerful-no matter how many times life brings you down, you have the strength to stand up again.

It's a film that makes you think, reflect, and perhaps even shed a tear. The Signature reminds us that our personal signature, our identity, is what defines us, even when everything else is taken away.

The Signature is a film that stays with you long after the credits roll. It's not just a film; it's an emotional journey that beautifully captures the essence of life's challenges and triumphs. Anupam Kher's acting is top-notch, and his performance alone is worth watching the movie. The script, acting, direction, and every other element come together harmoniously to make The Signature one of the finest films of the year.

In summary: "This is called script, acting, everything. One of the best movies of the year. What an acting, Anupam Kher!

Must Watch Movie

Just watched The Signature and I must say, it's a truly heart-touching film.

Anupam Kher delivers one of his finest performances - so real, so emotional, he makes you feel every moment of his journey.

Annu Kapoor is brilliant as always, bringing charm and depth even in limited screen time.

Ranvir Shorey impresses with his calm, powerful presence. Understated but very impactful.

Mahima Chaudhary, in her graceful comeback, is a delight to watch - she plays her role with quiet strength and dignity.

The movie is a beautiful mix of emotions, relationships, and second chances. A must-watch for anyone who appreciates meaningful cinema.

Life v/s Money

In this journey of life we only learn to fulfill our needs and raise our children, keep on trying to fulfill our happiness throughout our life. But we forget that in the coming time, savings and money will be of great help. If we had invested in medical insurance at that time or taken a good policy, then we would have got a lot of help in our last moments. Today after watching this movie, I got to think about the importance of living and the best thing is that I should also take a good policy for myself and my parents. Happiness is important in this journey of life but money is more valuable..

Oh God !

Some movies have no fanfare, you do not hear about them, there is no huge publicity, there is no drama and still, they are one of the best movies.

Had no idea that the movie could touch me so strongly. But the story in the movie is a reality.

In fact too real to be shown. Movies are to entertain and inspire and make one forget about the toughness of life.

Nobody makes a movie to show the realities of life. For reality is too serious to be entertaining.

Yet once in a while, some creator has the courage to think beyond money, accolades, box office collections, profit, and the normal.

Such creator is Gajendra Vitthal Ahire and the creators of this movie.

Had renewed my Zee5 subscription to watch the Sabarmati report, which unfortunately after so much hustle failed to impress me. But found this GEM accidently. Had never heard of this movie! But a movie that deeply resonates with many.

A very well-made movie and will form a deep connection with many.

The rating in IMDB does not give it justice. Not all can appreciate a fine piece of art, you need a certain amount of maturity and intellect to appreciate this gem,

Well, this movie kept me in rapt attention all through its duration. Why do good movies have to be this short, and why do the boring ones run till infinity?

Mahima made the movie after the passing of her mother, and one can feel her tears. Something tells me these are not glycerine tears but something that comes out naturally when she thinks of her mum.

Be thankful to God for the beautiful life you have, appreciate each day, and thank Him every day, for we need his goodness and mercy each second of our lives.

Highly recommended.

Generates sentiments of sympathy in the most organic way possible

Mr. Anupam Kher's performance is undoubtedly the pillar of this heartwarming film. His nuanced portrayal of a father grappling with life's challenges is inspiring.

However, the film would not be complete without the roles of Mahima Chaudhry and Ranvir Shorey. Their characters, though supporting, add depth and complexity to the narrative.

Mahima Chaudhry's character, with her unwavering love and support, provides a much-needed counterbalance to the protagonist's struggles. Her performance is filled with warmth and sincerity.

Together, the performances of these three actors create a combination of emotions that resonate deeply with the audience. The film's exploration of family dynamics, love, and resilience is both heartwarming and uplifting. It is a must-watch for anyone seeking a truly wholesome and satisfying cinematic experience.

An emotionally charged plot with excellent acting by Anupam Kher

A senior citizen couple ( Anupam Kher and Neena Kulkarni) are on their way to a European holiday when the wife faints at the airport and the doctors at a hospital diagnose it as brain hemorrhage. So starts the travails of Anupam who is a middle class person and just doesn't have the funds required for the costly treatment at the hospital. He manages to scrape enough by borrowing from relatives and friends. He also sells off his home but still falls short of funds. His wife is on ventilator but he is reluctant to sign the "Do not resuscitate" form.

Director Gajendra Vitthal Ahire presents an emotionally charged narrative with a superlative performance from Anupam Kher who is likely to pick up a few awards. His acting at places where he launches into a monologue reminds one of the much appreciated " Saransh" . Many viewers specially those from middle class will identify and resonate with the problems faced by him. They may also identify with scenes at the hospital Cafeteria where a cup of tea provides succour from the miseries. There are references to crowd funding attempts to help him out financially but it doesn't work. In supporting performances we have Mahima Choudhry as an ex colleague ( a cancer survivor), Annu Kapoor as a helpful friend and Ranvir Shorey as desperate father. There are intermittent scenes of a morose, sad Anupam in dilapidated building. Some kind of symbolism there ?

Classic

Review: Signature Now streaming on Z5 Adaption of 2013 Marathi Film Anumati, Signature & Anumati both film directed by Gajendra Ahire.

After watching Signature, I watched Anumati, a National Award winning film with classic performance by Vikram Gokhley.

The director has picturized frame by frame of Anumati with minor alterations & additions.

Signature is a Slow Pace Narrative through heartfelt storytelling of human relationships, financial and emotional challenges faced by families during medical emergencies, importance of medical insurance, inflated hospital bills, with strong performances by artists.

Its also explored how middle class family's children are facing problems to keep their parents healthy and also fulfilling their own family needs in a limited earnings.

Father son relationship sometimes reminds Baghban.

As per concern of picturization, authenticity is more in Anumati.

Vikram Gokhley was more natural in Anumati than Anupam Kher in Signature. But no doubt, both the artist performed meticulously with their best.

This film touches you deep inside, shakes you, brings tears to your eyes.

There are some flaws in making and picturization.

But content matters.

4 star out of 5.
