Cicada

Cicada is a movie that hands you the story in pieces. As you watch the protagonist, you are left with pieces of his past and visuals of the present. And as the story unfolds and he gets lost in mother nature.. you get led deeper and deeper into understanding his nature. This story, full of twists and turns, is supported brilliantly with the camera work. The beauty of the forests are captured beautifully. There are many parallels here. The movie seems to say that while the beauty of nature can be mesmerising, it would be foolish to take it for granted... And as with nature, so with greed and relationships.

The music, songs and background score touch the heart. This movie is absolutely worth a watch.

I'm a person who loves thriller movies I'm happy to say I enjoyed the hell out of this. It's a very slow moving story, but very well shot, the story is fantastic and it sucks you right in. Come to find out this is based on a persons karma , which makes it that much more interesting. Love it when you find something like this that you have zero expectations about and end up enjoying it. Characters performance really takes you through the emotions of the plot. It was one of the biggest things that stood out to me in this film.

While the film does have some issues, it takes a bit to get going and I feel like some time could have been cut out of the last half of the film, it's solid overall. I'm glad I gave this one a chance. While this movie certainly won't be for everyone, if you're in the mood for a good story, give this one a chance and check it out.

Cicada was such a fresh experience. Apart from the visual manifestation of human emotiona and nature , the plot was really good and out of box. The narration which was so much in sync with the visuals and BGM added to the output. Its definitely worth watching for all the experimental movie lovers. Definitely a yes for me. Try to watch it in theatre with a proper sound system.

Kudos to the entire team to do an effort like this. In short ,movies like this contributes a lot to the courage of upcoming artists to try something brave like this. Smooth narration , neat BGM and tight script. Congrats for the whole team.

Karma payback is the theme. The visuals, cinematography - the DOP's work , the Director+ Editor's work - transitions across timelines are excellent. Really liked the flow of the story : the entry into the jungle , the introduction and encounter with Koothan, the switch back-and-forth between the past and the present, adding more elements of the jungle played out well. The songs in the malayalam version are very hummable. Searching on YouTube revealed this movie has composed songs in all 4 South Indian languages and beautiful tunes. Look for Cicada movie songs on YouTube , if you are interested, loved most of the songs

A little more detailing of the characters, some more back-story and unfolding story would have made it sharper.

Quite a story, quite a thriller .the scenes of the forest, the hills , the music and the picturization is top class. While the story takes some time to be conveyed it's a must watch. Thrill, action,drama , cicada has it all.the theory behind karma being the god of all is so true and the movie is able to portray the work of fate by nature beautifully.

The leads were amazing but the performances by those who inhabited the jungle was the best and a fun watch.

A solid start for the team and evryone behind the making of the film The music is the most enjoyable part and experiencing it in the theater is a must.
