Let this be the start of my review by saying... I've never left a review before but this film has left me no choice! From beginning to end, MIDAS had me hooked as I'm watching these fresh faces in the industry go from innocent and comedic to a twist you wouldn't want to miss. It's almost hard not to spoil BUT This is a story that feels new and unpredictable which gets me excited at every turn of events! Ricky, which was played by Laquan Copeland! Really played the hell out of his role along with Herkamal Preet Kaur and Fredrico Parra! I hope to see more of these amazing actors in action soon! Until then I'll be watching MIDAS a few more times this week!
This film was surprisingly good! I loved the story and plot. To bring about topics like the unfairness in the healthcare industry and combine this with the heist genre in a new, cool and enticing way was exciting to see.
The main actor is what really drives this story. As a viewer, you really felt the complexities and the intense moments build throughout his performance, with a dose of charm added to it!
The supporting cast as well has a great chemistry overall that really makes you root for this trio in spite of the crazy situations they're putting themselves into.
Overall, while the script could use a few more tweaks, the leading actor and supporting characters do a great job in bringing this heist film to life! Definitely worth a watch!

This move had a very interesting plot. Love that it was filmed in the smaller city of Hartford, and featured small local restaurants. The characters were relatable and diverse. The storyline was a more modern and realistic twist on a heist/suspense type film. This film also didn't miss on some comedic relief. There was great chemistry between the group and the actual heist itself is gripping, well thought out, clever, and tense. Really entertaining film, never a dull moment. Overall, I would recommend this movie to others and think it has great potential to perform better than larger feature films.
I recently watched Midas, and I was blown away. It's more than just a movie; it's a love letter to Hartford. I've lived here my whole life, and I've never seen the city portrayed so beautifully on screen. Every shot, every frame, captures the city's unique charm, from the bustling streets to the quiet neighborhoods.
The story follows Ricky, a charismatic and ambitious young man who gets caught up in a world of insurance fraud. Laquan Copeland absolutely shines as Ricky, bringing a raw energy and vulnerability to the role. The supporting cast, especially Preet Kaur and Erik Bloomquist, are equally impressive.
While the film does have a few pacing issues, the heist sequences are thrilling and suspenseful. But it's the quieter moments, the character-driven scenes, that really stick with you.
Midas is a fresh take on the heist genre. It's not just about the crime; it's about the people, the city, and the power of community. It's a film that makes you proud to be from Hartford.

Seems all the bogus / paid high reviews keep reporting all the honest low ones for deletion. It speaks volumes when the filmmakers don't even have faith in their own production to resort to such blatant tactics trying to trick viewers into watching this nonsense. Writer / director TJ Noel-Sullivan should maybe take the money he's paying for these bogus reviews and put it towards film school. So I suggest y'all keep checking back to make sure yours isn't gone and downvote all the bogus high ones.
Original post: This was laughably bad. A fifth grade drama class could write, produce, direct and act better than this time wasting production. Think of the worst "made for TV" movie you've seen, and this is much worse.
The lead actor was unbelievable and annoying. Then you have an ending that felt like everyone just gave up. It had had no value at all. It was as if the writers got stumped and just quickly wrapped it up with an ending that made no sense. It ends with the main character learning nothing from the experience and goes on through his life as a shady character, constantly trying to convince his friends to risk it all for him.
There were many other details and plot holes that just didn't make sense. It's just sloppy writing and directing, and I'm baffled how they even got the funding to make this nonsense.
